Simplifications...

I like the idea of unit cards that combine traits into the different units - keeps it simple, also gives some options to developing scenarios as well. How about divide HP by 5 for a more managable figure? (That way a shaman would heal 1HP to any unit upto a maximum of 2 and a white mage 2HP up to a ...

Alright, I would like to get this pinned down so I can have the files necessary to compile cvs and EVERY FUTURE VERSION of this game!!! :P If you will indulge me, let me describe what I did. If you can point out any problems, please inform. Great Idea - found your instructions/pointers easier to fo...

The shield design could also be slightly more varied between levels - if only in perhaps adding some highlighting or a shiny boss for the 3rd level perhaps.

Nice unit though - like the real defensive look with the big shield and would give a real solid dwarven feeling to the dwarven armies :)

Take the swamp route for a white mage. I'm also planing on adding him to the other path. In addition, I'm re-tooling the WML plague so the created units can't attack on the round they're created. . . I've never found this level that hard, even when it was really hard. . . And maybe, just maybe, I'l...

Trolls are extraordinarily vulnerable to slowing attacks, and also have trouble fighting units with good defence (making them very poor against elves if there any trees around...). They can take some time to wear down, but the fact that they can be attack by missile troops without counterattack mean...

I made him a righty. This might lead to better animations. But surely a southpaw mage would be more sinister ;) I feeling that this unit would be better as a 2nd level and another path from Mage - otherwise to balance at first level either a lot of XP for advancement or having somewhat weak attacks...

No idea about the SDL side of things. But can confirm that no keystrokes seem to reach the OS... One idea might be to have a 'quit & save' single command option that can be hotkeyed - then Mac users can hotkey it to <whatever you want to call the key next to the spacebar>-Q which is a the standa...

Re: @_o

On the land front, his whelp trolls just crush my elven scouts and elven rider, am I suppose to charge them with horsemen? Also, how do I tell the horsemen to do normal attacks instead of charging? You need to get your horsemen promoted to knights before they get swords to go with their lances (_ve...

Nice job.

If I start a Rise of Wesnoth campaign with version 8.1, I cannot open it with 8.2. I just get a 'file is corrupt' error for the same campaign (started in 8.1, won't load in 8.2). Also when I load 8.1 HttT scenarios I get the normal 'are you sure you want to do this' type of message, and the scenari...

Perhaps a simple "prefers day/night" would do it. Or even just Sun/Moon. The Sun/Moon duality has fewer obvious negative/positive connotations than Light/Dark, Law/Chaos etc. sun/moon/earth <-> day/night/neutral works quite well as a differentiation : given that Elves & Dwarves are th...

I think 8-12 scenarios is too many for a tutorial. Maybe 4-5 scenarios, of increasing difficulty. I think Dave is thinking of a what would be an 'easy' campaign... One that can be played after the tutorials, but is shorter and doesn't bite so hard if you make mistakes in forces composition (or in f...

I've been (very slowly - too much real life keeps getting in the way) trying to work on some tutorial scenarios. One thing I think might work well is having a twp part tutorial structure : one set of a few scenarios that introduce the basics (movement, recruit, recall, advancement, range/melee comba...

'Great War' era sounds better? But now we would need replacements for 'Good' and 'Evil' factions. - Miyo Sounds good to me, was going to suggest 'apocalypse' era or something like that. But great war is more descriptive and avoids any connotations of good or evil (which are often a matter of cultur...
