Ok, further edits:

To the best of my knowledge, I think this is pretty good now.
I cleaned up the ground shadow. It is intended to be deliberately unnatural, but it had also been oddly shaped.

The claws and such are somewhat reduced in intensity - a neat trick I will use will be to make them suddenly become much brighter when he attacks.

Trust me, that animation trick will look good.

great now just replace the nightgaunt with my avatar in the mist form and the undead will be playable again...
im sinning but im winning at the same time/took a couple shots from a coward tryin ta take mine/back in the hood wit a chopper an a tech nine... im doin 100 on the hi way/u doin the speed limit then get the f*ck outta my way...

Here's the compare between all existing things. Note that I really like the wraith/spectres, and even the ghost, more or less, and do not want them to change.

About the only thing I am not fond of is the pink swords, but... they're ok.

They are worlds better than the bats that share the same color.

if you can do to the nightguant the same thing you did to the shadow that would be amazing, but make it more like the avatar that i got instead of the picture in the game...

Looks kind of whispy, compared to other units, even insubstantial ones.

I don't know if thats good or bad.

Not to mess up the entire topic, but is it possible to make the new shadow graphics the nightgaunt graphics and use the noramal graphics for the shadow. The hidden face goes well with the nightgaunt description.

Errr... I don't really understand other poster's comments about claws, face, etc. Almost all I see here is one indistinguishable smudge. I'm not sure I'd recognise this as a unit at all, were it not for the health bar and orbs. I think this graphic needs more definition, don't you?

And I really like the old ghost. Maybe make that one less substantial if ghosts need a change at all?

Wow, I think it looks really cool. And a lot scarier than the current ghost. It looks dark and menacing.

"An indistinguishable smudge"? Do you have sight problems?

It looks pixelated and blurred, many black pixels around and lots of blur in the body.

I don't like the new shadows much, the face is tiny and blurred and hard to distinguish. It's a different style than the other ghost units, with lots of blurring and smokey effects. I've always like the current Shadow graphic, and I don't see why it should be changed.

maybe there coule be a compromise by using the new face, arm position, and claws with the old shadow body? Not without some editing, but these three things are strengths of the new version that really do make it scarier.
