Hello. I installed 0.5.4 and in the first scenario (with wesnoth 0.9.7) the two desert hunters doesn't show up. Um, they are roughly made sketches drown with Inkscape, so they are vector graphics. If my scanner were working the letters would look a lot better for sure.
