[1.2] crash at/during game load during battle

OS: WinXP SP2
Wesnoth 1.2

The bug happens if the game is loaded during the battle (and the AI moves), and there if one of your troops dies (the figure is fading away). It happens in about 60-70% of all cases. If no figure dies the crash does not occur very often. The loading is started by pressing ctrl+o. Sometimes the file open dialogue shows first and a game can be selected.

Changing the language Settings are needed, too.

To reproduce:
Play a single player game
after the turn is ended wait till one of your own figures dies
during the fading away press <ctrl> + <o>
sometimes you can first try loading a game
game crash. It should not take more than 5 tries (if it does not happen there are some additional things which are needed, I'll try to test for them some more)

I have experienced the same in versions 1.1.x and 1.2, when save/loading on certain very frustrating scenarios.
Hard work may pay off in the long run, but laziness always pays off right away.

I found, that a fast file selection in the file open dialog, raises the chances greatly. This is most common for normal game play if you just want to load the latest (and therefore top most) file since you only have to hit the enter key.

The problem may be that the file is parsed if selected (to show some infos) and not closed before the file is normally loaded. In that case slower computers may be more prone to this error.
