I would suggest thickening the shaft of the poleaxe and actually putting it in the skeleton's hand.

I threw in the halberd Frankenstein for fun and to give it size comparison. Please just help me with the ram. Cheers.

I would agree that the ram is not facing the correct way - It would look better facing the bottom right corner. Also, the shading of the inside of the ram is too bright. Actually, you need more contrast in the entire thing. Also, your wheels don't agree - one is darker than the other, and they point in different directions.

The ram should face the hex to the bottom right of it - remember that in wesnoth, there is no horizontal direction for attacking it - it's south, southeast/west, north, northeast/west.

I think that looks like its facing SE sufficiently.

The crest of the tent/covering for the ram needs to be a straight line, as of now it is curved. There are a couple more perspective issues, but I am not very good at describing them.

Intentional- I thought it looked better.

I think orangey leather/hide covering is overly saturated- more greyish? The lines between each segment need a standard approach - but I'm not sure what. I was hoping to go for a sewn together effect but I suspect that detail is should be invisibly small.

p.s. Is it better to post without the background? I prefer them that way.

I'm pretty sure that, the hides were draped over each other sorta like scales, in the middle ages. Of course I might be wrong, but It also seems more practical were this a real life weapon for a real life situation.

Correct. The hides were only there to prevent the structure from catching fire from the flaming arrows enemies shot at it, and overlapped (like scales or roofing shingles) so as to give better protection and prevent any stray arrows from lodging between them. You don't really need those cow skins there, they look kinda out of place, and the skins would be cured (all hair/insides removed from the skins) before they were placed on the machine. So all the skins would be more or less the same brown color.

Before I read the posts, I thought it looked like clay glued together... :hmm:
But no problem, just a dumb first impression, it makes sense now and see that it's a leather covering. :)

I like it better with the background.

Post it with the terrain if you have transparency or something that renders the sprite to the stage where it looks sufficiently better on the background.
Otherwise, no need to bother.
It is however, your choice.

Okay, I just have uploaded the new edition, 0.5.1, with Thunderthrow, including the animations, on the 1.7/1.8 server.
They seem pretty good so far, but no guarantee for bug free, yet. I have changed names from Tomahawk to Thunderthrow on the dialogues and the unit file, but I left it for scenario id and title in purpose at this moment, so you can use your saving file just to see them. (they will be changed to Thunderthrow in near future)

For the bullet, I use "fire-burst-small-2.png" in the default, instead of "ball.png", at this time, and I remove the pierce attack from Thunderthrow.

Anyway, I really appreciate your help.

Ready for anim? Is that about the upper limit for numbers of colours to the palette on sprite art?

Edit: Oh and I made these concepts for undead villages. The whole Sauron eye thing was a whim, its not a seriously intended part. Is three floors too much of a squeeze? I wanted a "tower of dread" feel but it looks a lot less villagish.

The body looks great, but the wheels need to be more 3D (Read: you need to make them appear thicker by widening them)

The ram itself also needs to have a larger metal cap, IMO, and it currently needs more metal-like reflections. Remember that metal has higher contrast than other materials under the same lighting conditions.
