Question on updating Wesnoth (0.9.4 -> 0.9.5)
I have Windows 98, and a copy of Wesnoth 0.9.4 that runs like a dream.
Then I see this new version 0.9.5. I check the downloads and see the full new version, then I see the compilation (source-code related) update thingamabob. (Called source-xdelta or somesuch) But not the binary one. (Already compiled, newbie friendly, windows version).
So is there one binary update coming, or do I just uninstall my current build (0.9.4) and then install the newest (0.9.5)?
I tried to search the forums and read the wiki and manual, but didn`t see info on this matter.
So to reiterate for maxium clarity:
Will there be a self-executable or zip-form update for windows users? And if not, is there any reasonable way to update Wesnoth apart from simply uninstalling the old and installing the new?

I've just uploaded to sourceforge the xdelta file for Windows.
You can get the file here:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... a?download
And a little explanation here:

I need help to update that damn game!(i am brazillian and don't know how to write perfectly, but i will try)
Do you have a self installer (exe) to update 094 to 095? please.
Don't get mad with me for asking that, but i JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT @#$% xdata, CVS, etc and i can read all the instructions thousand times and nothing help! for me read that an read a chinese text is almost the same thing (i'm dumb and don't understand nothing more complex than a Snes rom...ok, i am really dumb...for me the whole thing is mixed with the info for change the game)
I can download it again but i use a dial-up conection and anything more than 20MB cost me at least two weeks to download! (Weak PC, low connection and little time... golden combination)
If you can not say where i can find a simple way to make it, please just show me in a ABSOLUTELY SIMPLE WAY step-to-step what i should to update the game (please)

may be a simpler solution.
Also, based on the size of the changelog, I expect 0.9.6
to be coming out soon. So you may be better off waiting
and going to 0.9.6.
Another option might be to using linux or a bsd on your
computer (especially if you have two weak pcs), since
building from source is easy there and updating from
CVS is also easy and doesn't use a lot of bandwidth.
The trouble with Windows is that it doesn't come with
a development environment by default.

9,5 for apple
Do you know of a cvs for 9.5 for os x
Re: 9,5 for apple
Assuming the developers tag the releases, you should be able toelvish avenger wrote:Do you know of a cvs for 9.5 for os x
get a copy of the 0.9.5 release from CVS. The default is to
get the latest version which has a number of bug fixes and other
changes that have been made since 0.9.5 was released. You may
want the older version if you play multiplayer, otherwise you are
probably better off with the latest release.
CVS includes all of the source code. There may be some
dependencies on external libraries that you need to have installed.
OS X is a BSD varient so you probably have a copy of the tools
needed to build from source, but I haven't actually tried it on a Mac.
Re: 9,5 for apple
CVS comes with the developer tools for OS-X (should be included with the OS, either on a separate CD or on the install DVD). Otherwise, you can get it from the apple developers website.elvish avenger wrote:Do you know of a cvs for 9.5 for os x
