tradeing bord game

need a cheat for a game?... than email me at LINK2@37.com!
I don't really understand what you are speaking about.
You should explain it a little bit more. And also, this thread should be in the Game development.
I didn't understand if it was a computer game or a 'normal' game.

Undecided. Quite honestly, I think its an OK idea, but I don't think YOU doing it is a good idea.

I forgot something in my last post: what it a trading game?

A trading board game? Such as: if my friend beats me at chess on my chess set, he walks out of the door with my king figure, or the whole set? Huh?
Trading card games are an evil commercial ploy, don't post such a sinister plan on the forum of a free, open-source game and expect a lot of applause...

Try some Multiplayer Scenarios / Campaigns
How will you handle randomness? Rolling dice gets old very quickly.
Also, you will need some sort of reconfigurable map.

In Wesnoth, you would have to roll a lot more dice- one for each attack. You would also need a ten-sided die.Dave wrote:Gee...I was just wondering why Backgammon, Monopoly, and Risk are so unpopular. This must be it!MadMax wrote:How will you handle randomness? Rolling dice gets old very quickly.
Also, you would need a calculator or mathematician to do the math, because average people would lose patience (a calculator could handle randomness too, but how many people will pay $100 USD for a calculator fancy enough to handle that)?

No-one said that you would use the exact Wesnoth battle mechanics. You'd no-doubt use simpler ones.MadMax wrote:In Wesnoth, you would have to roll a lot more dice- one for each attack. You've obviously never played DND.MadMax wrote:In Wesnoth, you would have to roll a lot more dice- one for each attack. You would also need a ten-sided die.
My contributions to the Wesnoth Project over time are inversly proportional to the number of registered forum users!

For one combat: all you need is many ten-sided dice which are distinguishable.
I have an elvish archer shooting a bow at a horseman on grassland? Roll four dice, for each which is 5 or more, it's a hit. Easy.
If I have an orcish grunt attacking a severely wounded elvish fighter, roll 2d10 for the grunt and 4d10 for the elvish fighter. Here is where the need to be distinguishable comes in: the dice have an order. Go over the strikes in order and see when the elvish fighter dies, so he stops retaliating.
Basically, the time to roll dice is independent of the number of dice being rolled, and reading dice is a quick process. So long as you know which roll refers to which strike, it's unambiguous and easy.
However, the damage resistances become nasty. We would probably have to simplify most of them...

Probably they should be additive, or just "half damage" and "double damage".drachefly wrote:However, the damage resistances become nasty. We would probably have to simplify most of them...
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.
