Trolls in Wesnoth
I think trolls should have their own race in Wesnoth. What do u think some of the units should be, what their strengths should be, and what their campain story should be like.
Jar Jar Binks should have died in episode III.

They do have their own race. If you can think of any good ideas for additional troll units, please, fire away.DarthRevan00m9 wrote:I think trolls should have their own race in Wesnoth. The issue, however, is that I can't think of any good "new troll units".
Trolls using the following have been ruled out:
bladed or spearlike melee weapons
bows, or guns, or thrown spears
riding any sort of mount
The one thing that could be made, so far as I can tell, is some sort of troll magic user, given their highly magical nature as a race. However, under no circumstances can this be an offensive magic user. Trolls tossing fireballs is not compatible with their kind of magic.
Troll magic is a lot like dwarven magic - it lies in the resilience and vitality of their race, and their stonelike nature.
A long time ago, some had postulated the idea of a "bloodlust" aura, which would cause adjacent units to attack out of order. The basic idea is that adjacent troll units to a "troll shaman" would be able to get off both of their melee attacks before the enemy could retaliate at all.
Another thought would be enhancing their natural resilience, or enhancing their regeneration.

Is this an attack against quartex's UTBS? A troll magic caster can be seen there.Jetryl wrote: The one thing that could be made, so far as I can tell, is some sort of troll magic user, given their highly magical nature as a race. You could also have the fantasy equivalent of genetically mutated trolls or different breeds. One type evolved into runners, one type strong like elephants, one with 4 arms, one that lost regeneration and gained [something], etc.
Hope springs eternal.

Not a big assortment. Why don´t give a troll something like a ball and chain as weapon. Something that was used to hold them back but they now use it as a kind of weapon these would work like a big morning star. They could throw it and they could use it as a melee weapon.Jetryl wrote: ...

This girl, this boy, They were part of the land. What happens to the places we used to tend?

It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

How about Trolls using huge shields as weapons.Jetryl wrote:They do have their own race. I quite like the idea of troll mutants with run-away regeneration 'replacing' body parts the troll was never supposed to have: extra arms, a tail, horns, vestigal wings...
In game turns a lvl 2 troll with doubled regeneration, lower hitpoints, and 4 lower-damage attacks (with its extra appendages). Fairly low XP requirements for the lvl 3 troll muti-ball: a seething mass of appendages and organs with lots of weak attacks, tripled regeneration, moderate hitpoints and a low XP requirement.
When it reaches enough XP for level 4, the runaway regeneration becomes untenable and the whole mess collapses. The unit dies.
I'm fully aware this grotesquely breaks a lot of rules, such as reduction in power levelling is bad, and I'm really not suggesting anyone makes it - but I thought it was a fun idea.
