Only if someone wants to work on them. Wesnoth development is driven by what developers and contributors want to do, not by what users want. This is a big distinguishing factor from commercial games.luciano wrote:wouldn't it be better to have the ones needed for the shipped campaigns first?

Of course. My intention was only to give a suggestion on where to start, in case that was needed.Dave wrote:Only if someone wants to work on them. Given that there are 150 or so units, and that just a handful of those have lines in the current scenarios, it makes sense to start from the few ones that are needed currently.
Then, actually, I'd enjoied playing the Dark Hordes campaign - pity the abrupt ending - and I'm very curious on how jason could draw Gwiti, for example.

"The Dark Hordes" is in limbo because - first, we are not sure if Pickslide has done art for the thing, and second - we are not sure where Circon is.luciano wrote:Then, actually, I'd enjoied playing the Dark Hordes campaign - pity the abrupt ending - and I'm very curious on how jason could draw Gwiti, for example.
Or at least I'm not. I suppose I should actually check into that, sometime soon.

I did that on purpose (having the Thug line portraits face left instead of right) to mix it up some. My basic plan is to have all units of the same line face the same direction to add to the feeling of "transformation," but to switch off the facing direction from line to line.Elvish Pillager, in another thread, wrote:Good guys face to the right, bad guys face to the left!
but maybe you should flip the Thug line?
Does this seem too inconsistent? What is everyone's preference in regard to the facing issue?

Make all Lawful units face right, all Chaotic units face left, and Neutral units whichever way (or based on which alignment they're associated with --- Elves lawful, and Dwarves chaotic)
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Hmm, seems to me that official campaigns should be maintained by the official maintainers. This is supposed to be an open source project...Jetryl wrote:we are not sure where Circon is.
If Circon ever reappears, and decides he doesn't like some of the changes made in his absence, well, he can always go back to an earlier version - that's one of the nice things about CVS.
Boring! I definitely prefer the mix-them-up option.Elvish Pillager wrote:Make all Lawful units face right, all Chaotic units face left

What about having the portraits flipped left or right depending on the dialogues? That is, in a campaign, have the player units facing left, and the foes facing right.Jason Lutes wrote: Does this seem too inconsistent? What is everyone's preference in regard to the facing issue?
The shadows may be a bit odd for the right-facing units, but that should not be too bad.

I thought of doing something like that, but wouldn't that mean we'd need two copies of every portrait, effectively doubling their size as a game component?luciano wrote:What about having the portraits flipped left or right depending on the dialogues? If we were to do this it'd be done in the game's code, not by having two copies of each portrait.Jason Lutes wrote:I thought of doing something like that, but wouldn't that mean we'd need two copies of every portrait, effectively doubling their size as a game component?luciano wrote:What about having the portraits flipped left or right depending on the dialogues? I don't think we should worry about which way the portraits face. If we decide to change them later, it's incredibly easy to do so, so it's not something we have to worry about up-front.
