Re: Feudal Era
Oh, great. How would You think about replacing new Aragwaith with old ones (new are already in other eras and old is nice quality too) and maybe think about some new units for it's factions as some has little of it (as Clockwork Dwarves)

Re: Feudal Era
Sorry for my ignorance, but can I see the new aragwaith? I have no real idea about them, but they leak in having almost no impact dmg and resistance variations (with exception of guard that is ridicously tanky)holypaladin wrote: ↑November 1st, 2024, 7:53 pmOh, great. Re: Feudal Era
Feudal Era is part of something I made called A Neverending Era (a compilation of all the eras I'm maintaining) and there is another Era (Era of Chaos) in the ANE that has a different version of the Aragwaithi. It is possible that these are the new and old versions. This gives users of the ANE a choice of Aragwaithi.holypaladin wrote: ↑November 1st, 2024, 7:53 pmOh, great. I'll do some more research and try and find out what versions of the Aragwaithi there are and how they match up to the two in ANE.
As for the Clockworks they seem OK, I count 6 recruitables (exactly average) and 20 total units (they have a couple of branches for L2/3).
As for adding new units it is a nice idea but unfortunately there are no new graphics. I'm no artiste sadly. I could whip up WML code and ideas for new units with ease but at best they'd have placeholder sprites.

Re: Feudal Era
There were old Aragwaith sprites once, they were good quality and I would like them to be restored somewhere. As for others I will wait if someone will propose something and maybe that will give me some ideas to share.Feudal Era is part of something I made called A Neverending Era (a compilation of all the eras I'm maintaining) and there is another Era (Era of Chaos) in the ANE that has a different version of the Aragwaithi. Re: Feudal Era
That's true, I was talking about mostly sprites but I think there were few kinds of unit types of Aragwaith anyway. I remember Dragon Trilogy had partly changed Aragwaith.IPS wrote: ↑November 1st, 2024, 8:23 pmSorry for my ignorance, but can I see the new aragwaith? Re: Feudal Era
Btw Aragwaith have some few leakings as a faction, will mention them here:
1) The faction is in overall too nimble/swift , they only have 2 rasonably tanky units (Pikemen at lv2/lv3 and Lv2/Lv3 Guardsman) , the entire rest have normal resistances and rely more in terrain advantages (sand, frozen defenses)
2) The faction lacks of impact damage dealers (lv2 roc rider is not enough to fullfil this leak of impact dmg)
3) Doesn't offer anything new in gameplay, despite of the cool their sprites are...
4) Have so few units and their gameplay is so lineal.
5) Balance issues like lv2 Guardsman is insanely much better lv2 than longswordsman, despite requiring the same XP from the lv1, not even balanced or consistent inside the faction itself.
Many things could be improved at here.

Re: Feudal Era
I've played these guys a couple of times. They are unusual for sure. IIRC they are glass cannons, fragile but hard hitting? That's not so bad a thing, just requires player to adjust some.IPS wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2024, 4:25 am Btw Aragwaith have some few leakings as a faction, will mention them here:

The lack of impact could be a fatal flaw vs a faction that's only vulnerable to impact I suppose. I wonder though if the flaw is in the faction with such a small window of vulnerability? If however the concern is skeletons say then there are alternatives.
Are we looking at the same units though? I just rechecked and the level 1 eagle rider has impact and the witch has a small melee impact too (plus fire on the main attack).
Hehe, few factions offer anything new, I don't hold that against them.
Also I am looking at the Guard and Longswordsman L2's and I see only a small difference? 33 vs 36 dam, 54 vs 46 hp. The longswordsman however gets 2 more mp. The Guard does get steadfast on top of the extra hp though. It's a fork between a tough slow tank and a fast hitter. Maybe the guard hits too hard for a defensive hulk, I can see that being nerfed a titch, thanks for pointing it out.
Still all in all I know the Feudal isn't that polished, I had quite a job just fixing all the bugs. (The Aragwaithi faction was completely broken in the 1.12 original) I'll be happy if at least I managed to get them all. : ) I don't believe there's a gross imbalance, i.e. something like you can always pick faction X and recruit unit Y and wipe the board out.

Re: Feudal Era
I had a look into the wayback machine, hehe. The units database for 1.6 definitely shows some older sprites for the FE. The Eagle Master in particular has gone from a fuzzy bird with outstretched wings to the new one with the tucked in wings. You are right that the old sprites seem quite nice. I'm not sure what the history there is though and why they were changed.holypaladin wrote: ↑November 2nd, 2024, 7:44 pm That's true, I was talking about mostly sprites but I think there were few kinds of unit types of Aragwaith anyway. In any case there are only minor sprite diffs between the Era of Chaos and the Feudal Era arag's. One is the ancient banner units (L4) that was added since 1.6. EoC and FE have different sprites for it.
Whew, I just did some research into the subject... turns out that the old sprites are partly included with the current FE but are unused duplicates. The problem with the old sprites seems to be that they lack team colouring (or at least it is barely visible) and this was why the new ones were made with very prominent magenta capes and cloaks.
Sadly I fear the old sprites are obsolete (a word I rarely like to use but it is literally true here). Pity, I was considering using them to distinguish the FE and EoC Arag's...

Sad to hear, I really hoped them getting place in Feudal Era and not getting wastedAtreides wrote: ↑November 3rd, 2024, 8:16 pmI had a look into the wayback machine, hehe.
