Problem resuming a saved MP campaign (V1.12)

Post by jorrit »

Hi all,

Me and my kids are trying some MP campaigns but we have trouble resuming a game we saved earlier. I was the host and I saved the game. When I try to resume the game I do Multiplayer/Host Networked Game. Then I do Create Game and then Load Game. The game appears to load fine and we can resume play. However, the problem is that as soon as the enemy turn comes it is me that has to control the enemy. It is as if the enemy AI gets disconnected and I have to take its place.

Is there a way around this? Am I loading the game the wrong way?

Thanks!

I believe this is a known bug, I think the workaround is that you should issue the command :droid x where x is the side number of a side that should actually be an AI and not a human.

In general, droid toggles the state between human and AI control. This command should be mp safe and synchronized with the other clients, it basically exists to work around problems like this.

another work around might be to erase all current_player= from the savefile before loading it, or to log in with a different nick for all players when loading the savefile.
Scenario with Robots SP scenario (1.11/1.12), allows you to build your units with components, PYR No preperation turn 1.12 mp-mod that allows you to select your units immideately after the game begins.

We all have this problem. It would be nice to be fixed soon. BUT in the meantime, how and where do you issue this command ":droid x" ? I don't understand how to implement this command.

Thanks for the help.

Do shift+:, then type "droid x" where x is the side number.

thanks for the work around but where do I enter the shift+ commands?
I assume this is done by the host?
Is issued when the MP game has started and players joined or before in the lobby?

I have tried renaming the server names but that didn't work and got a warning saying the "whiteboard" had changed so it gave all control to the host player.

The bug report is here: http://gna.org/bugs/?22968
It has been marked fixed. I assume we must wait for the next .1 release (or compile from git).

You literally just type a colon and then a command prompt pops up. Then type droid 2, or whatever the side number is.
