1.8.5 wont start

Hi im sitting on Lucid 10.04
yesterday i had an update and after this wesnoth refuses to start

the error i get:

Reading through help manuals i conclude that perhaps my preferance file been corrupted failing fiding this i instead go to synaptic and do a complete removal of the game all files included thus no more preferance file and reinstall it

It still doesnt work, right now im pounding my head at the wall, and contemplating doing a reinstallment of the whole computer even though it feels abit execive.

Hi i tried to remove the addons following instructions, no change still doesnt work so its not that, probably the addons got removed when i reinstalled the game. so when adding the line nothing happens.

Then i went to extreme, a reinstallment of ubuntu, creating backups spending about a whole afternoon tinkering all just for being able to play this game, do a reinstallment
adding wesnoth starting wesnoth... i need to get a new mouse my old one is now in pieces

what is wrong with this i cant understand it, same error ar before

locate and delete your user data directory. i'm pretty sure uninstalling didn't delete e.g. the cache folder.

i used gksu nautilus, then search the computer and deleted every reference to wesnoth made a new installment and still problem persists, but heres a question does wesnoth have any cach files not named wesnoth or user data and it is
therefore it doesnt work?

never found a solution but found a workaround, cheerz for extra pc.s

will see if i get the game to work on the other pc eventually.

My problem is actually with 1.8.6. It will load, but it will not allow me to play any senerio. When I try to load any senario tt just quits. I am using a power PC mac running leapord.
