:| Uh... he is part of "the team".
He's helped a ton with writing/storyline for Inferno 8 and contributed greatly to the gameplay and design of TLU. He's pretty much the main reason that TLU has improved so much since its original release.
If that doesn't make him part of "the team", I don't know what would.

I have worked with inferno8 for a few months on "To Lands Unknown," have made significant contributions, and am in the credits. As far as I'm concerned I'm part of that "team," and I would guess by inferno8's public statements that he feels similarly. inferno8 has left a temporary vacuum, and I am attempting to fill it with leadership. Before he disappeared for exams, he definitely was leaning towards "please provide stories." It's not certain which stories he wanted provided, and we'll find out how much he loves or hates my version of the Tharis when he gets back. I don't know if he has rather a lot of material about the Tharis already, or absolutely nothing, but I suspect it's closer to the latter. I'm not willing to wait until February to get the ball rolling. I have my own life schedules and this is production time for me, not downtime.

I had hoped that the volume of material I've offered would get people interested in getting moving on a sequel. It doesn't appear to have had that effect, but thanks for critiques and refinements all the same. I am quite capable of "going my own way" if need be. I'm hoping for a group effort here, but it's not a requirement.

Each unit would have to have its own variable tracking its morale;
No it wouldn't. It's a function of the unit's HP. Modifiers from other units would be applied in some turn phase, thereby minimizing the processing. Didn't you guys ever play tabletop wargames like Squad Leader?
bvanevery wrote:Conscripts will rout if their morale breaks.
If the morale of a unit dips below a certain level, it would have to "rout", whatever that means. (Join the enemy? Turn to an AI-controlled side that takes them out of your control and makes them run away? Fight poorly?)
Any/all. Might be story dependent.

Who have made the descriptions of Barbarins? The rouser in the main era and the rouser of EoMa are entirely different so the description of "default" rouser does not suit well with the "EoMa" rouser. Maybe at least remove first sentence, it will help the cause a little.

They're very probably by I8 himself, though I am not so sure. Anyway, I plan to go back to the Dark Blood descriptions as soon as the RL pressure eases up a bit.

Edit: There's an 'Implosion' attack icon by Artisticdude which might be useful for the Tharis Dark-master's (or whatever that level four was called) attack.

It's time to answer some questions and dispel some doubts.

First of all "The Deserter". It's good as a fan-fic, but I have my own version of the story for Tharis campaign. It introduces the 8th faction and explains many plot holes you discovered. As soon as I finish a new version of the era, I will tell you more details.

I'm going to rename Dark Elves to Tharis. The upcoming story will explain, that Tharis people are humans. The black magic they are using somehow affects their appearance and makes their ears pointy and faces slim.

The races are not equal. The Enlightened Ones are far more powerful than any other race in the universe of the Era of Magic (since Summoners have disappeared).

The Kharosans used to fight each other, because there were local kingdoms in the past. That's why they have well-organized military.

The Dwarves were designed only for MP combat. I'm not planning a campaign about them.

I'm impressed that you've made it through the huge backlog of material. :lol2:

Yeah, me too. Anyway, now that the RL pressure lifted a bit, I am going back in descriptions. I8, can you post the unit tree here, or should I go and do this myself?

I have put Era of Magic into Bitbucket. https://bitbucket.org/bvanevery/eraofmagic Alarantalara has write permission and inferno8 has admin permission. sur.nhm, please add yourself as a Follower of the bitbucket repository, so that I can give you write permission. If you need to go up the Mercurial learning curve, I strongly recommend TortoiseHg. On Windows I've found it to be extremely convenient.

inferno8, would you please be so kind as to add the _server.pbl and _add_on_name.pbl files to the both the Era of Magic and To Lands Unknown repositories? They are needed to fully reproduce the campaigns. Clients don't receive these files from the add-on server, so you're the only one in possession of those.

These files include passphrases preventing others from modifying my add-ons on the server. Before I upload them I need to know whether these passwords will be hidden from others.

I suggest, make copies of these files without your password. Name them sample_add_on_name.pbl and sample_server.pbl so that they don't interfere with the operation of your own files, then add those to the repository. The idea is, if you get hit by a bus, or your hard drive fries, or someone needs to fix bugs in them and test the results, or in a few years you get busy with paying work and don't have time for maintenance, or someone wants to take your GPLed work and modify it for their own use, then they don't have to create the .pbl files from scratch. They also serve as examples of how to write a complete campaign or era.

EDIT: operation completed. I decided to name them _add_on_name_sample.pbl and included instructions for renaming them.

Yes, it's me. Actually, it's my alter ego, but nevermind.
Anyway, here's the Swamp Mage desc, up for C&C:
I wrote:Some of the Corrupted Shamans do not come out of the Great Bog. Instead, they opt to remain and find their fate there.
Some of those wander to a certain part of the Bog which is suffused with darkness. Most of them die; the few who survive, probably through some sort of deal with that place's dark rulers, come back... wrong.
Their personalities are wiped blank, and they serve as the darkness's vehicles. They gain great power in their service, and thier ability to use the fires of the darkness itself and regenerate almost any wound is infamous in some parts of the Bog.
