Look in the wesnoth scenarios directory (on my system it's /usr/share/wesnoth/data/scenarios) and edit the config files there. Each one will define the enemy's gold, usually differing for each difficulty level.bobby wrote:Stupid question maybe, but how do you edit the enemys gold? so far i've only been able to edit my own...telex4 wrote:I cheated, reduced the enemy's starting gold level to 75, increased lisar's to 200
Just don't get tempted to cheat all of the time

Bundles are really special folders. You can access them by right-clicking on them and selecting "Show Package Contents." Then under Contents find the Data folder. That has everything like scenarios.fmunoz wrote:IIRC OSX packages are a single bundle. All required files, even saves, are stored in one large file.
(no OSX here)
What I don't know how to find is the saves. Where are they supposed to be? What directory are they normally under?

jmosher: Dave and Sithrandel talked about this: http://wesnoth.whitevine.net/forum/phpB ... ory+macosx
What I don't know is the final location Sithrandel chose for the preferences directory on MacOSX. On Linux it's on your home folder, on a hidden directory.

I found the prefs, and I like the solution Sithrandel came up with: ~/Library/Preferences/Wesnoth. This way you don't have a random folder messing up the organization of your home folder, nor is it needlessly hidden. My trouble was in thinking this was a quick-and-dirty port that would not be adapted at all to Mac thinking!yawningdog wrote:jmosher: Dave and Sithrandel talked about this: http://wesnoth.whitevine.net/forum/phpB ... ory+macosx

The problem is that this all should be documented in the Mac port's readme file. Is Sithrandel likely to be reading this?

I had the same problem using OS X, I couldn't the save files until I did a find search and found they were in my Mac's preferences folder. I was trying to delete some of my older save files. It would be good to have the location of the prefs mentioned in the readme, especially if you are trying to uninstall the game later. Unlike windows, mac apps don't usually come with uninstallers, and someone might just trash the wesnoth folder and not realize another folder had been installer on their mac.
Also it would be really handy to be able to delete save files from within the wesnoth app instead of having to root around your hard drive to manually trash them. Might we see a delete button in the saved games dialog box come v 0.7?

I am not sure but this idea appeared once and was approved, though it is not a priority, anyone willing to help Dave coding teh game is welcome
I also think that save/load dialog lacks some features and this should be added.
Also, a reminder: ideas/suggestion towards game development belong to Developer's Discussions forum: http://wesnoth.whitevine.net/forum/phpB ... um.php?f=2
Also, users may post any ideas at User's Forum: http://wesnoth.whitevine.net/forum/phpB ... um.php?f=6
Clean forum ise easier for developers to browse through, you do not want your idea to pass unnoticed by Dave, do you? :]

Just got back from holiday... and have now read this thread. I am always glad to hear from Mac OS X users
I must also say that for a cross platform app I do like the support the developers have given to porters to aid maintian the core behaviour as the user expects.
You are right, the preferences location should be specified in the readme. Under the old OS 6 / 7 / 8 / 9 it was taken as read that people would know where the prefs would be. Mac OS X has complicated matters and programs don't always follow the rules so it is very confusing for the user. I shall make sure that that part gets added. Thanks for pointing it out
Sadly unpacking to do so other threads will have have to wait

Actually I was thinking, it's actually a good thing that saves in OS X are saved to the preferences file in the user's library. It may be a bit confusing for newbies, but when you are running several versions of Wesnoth, or deleting version and reinstalling often, you don't have to copy save files or worry about them getting accidentally deleted. I can do a fresh install whenever I want, confident that my saves are ok.
Just until we, evil developers, change some inner things in the game and make obsolete all your saves...quartex wrote:Actually I was thinking, it's actually a good thing that saves in OS X are saved to the preferences file in the user's library.
