Sounds like you might be missing some starting locations or other necessary tidbits. Have you followed the documentation on the wiki?

We'll probably need more information to isolate the error. What operating system are you using? Version number? What version of Wesnoth are you using?

Are you attempting to use any custom/unusual terrain in your map, or just the normal terrain that ships with Wesnoth?

I think he's just playing a game (what he calls "do a map"), since he wrote: "I started to play this week."

If you mean playing a regular game of Wesnoth, you should have auto-saves ("...-Auto-Save....gz") you can load with the "Load" button on the main screen, unless you changed the General Preferences. If you did, then you weren't ready for 'no auto-saves', since apparently you didn't "save early, save often".

Or he might mean Playing on a custom map he designed as well.

Common first time mistake is to forget to assign starting locations.

Post by Sleaver »

Ok, as you asked, i will give you guys more info.
I am using windows XP, wesnoth version i think 1.8.0, i made a custom map, using only normal stuff rom the editor, and when i tried to save it, the game closed.
Info about the map: yes, Zachron, i assigned the starting locations, and i just used normal stuff from the editor. Then, i just wanted to play on it, i try to save, the game closes

Did you include anything saying "Extra WML implantation required"? Like runes or campfires?

Now we're getting places. I'm going to move this over to the Technical Support forum, so that it can get more attention from tech-savvy Wesnothians.

But if he can't save it... :hmm:

You could try obtaining the latest version from svn, perhaps it's only a bug in that particular version.

OK, why post a screenshot if there is nothing on it, imagine a plain map, nothing, just starting positions and 2 castles...That is the map i tried to save...

Just do it. You could have missed something that you don't know you missed.
I'm (and I bet a couple others) not completely sure you really know what you are doing with the maps.
