Network player option in local game

Post by OzorMox »

I'm under the impression that hosting a network game with a client is no longer possible, and that you now have to run the Wesnoth server wesnothd and use the 'connect to server' option in the client. This works fine, but originally I tried to do it by clicking 'local game' and setting some players to network player, which causes the message "waiting for players to join..." to appear at the bottom. Trying to connect with another client fails though, it only works if I use a separate server. Is the 'network player' option redundant, and maybe should be removed?

Try connecting to server "localhost".

This only works if I run wesnothd separately. Doing this by starting a local game and setting some players to network player gives the message "could not connect to server". I just thought maybe this option is redundant and should be removed (setting players to network player in local game), or does it have a purpose somehow?
