I only know what's she's supposed to be doing there because I read about it, I couldn't figure that out from the animation itself.

@Rhuvaen: The stuff on the upper body seems to be relatively tight-fighting, but you're right about the skirt. I tried to add a ripple, but it needs more.

@Zookeeper: That's what I meant with adding a halo. Basically in the frame where she is blowing and in the frame after, there should be couple of halos which clearly show some sort of magic dust being blown.

The shadow gets bigger but the skirt gets barely baggy.

The blow can be made more visible with a Halo, but improving the animation should be the first step. The rest comes alone.
I actual like the idea a bit subtile but not bad.

Edited for clarity, since a language error might have given this the opposite truth value of what I suspect you intended to say - my apologies in advance if I was wrong. - Jet

man, I ran right into that one. But after a second I thought 'wait a minute...', and did 'the right thing'. I hope.

Is that enough motion on the skirt? I almost added another px of motion when she blows the dust, but then I thought that'd be overdoing it.

Also, I think her shadow has developed a life of it's own. In gimp preview it was screwing up on me, and when I post it, voila, it's OK.

More movement to the skirt? hmm... I guess, yeah...

Dont worry about it. Such double meanings happen to me all the time. Besides, your comments have always been of help to me. :) And if you're having trouble phrasing something in English, you can always write it out in German* with me. Ich werde es verstehen.

You do live in Germany, right?

Exactly I'm a born-and-bred german but better I'm a Saxon I doubt that you would understand my German for the same reason I wouldn't understand a Bavarian.

I'd say the face seems a bit too narrow when it faces us...it looks off somehow.

Besides that, its kinda subtle, but there is nothing wrong with that. Nicely improved!

@Thrawn - I sorta had the hair covering the face. But I see what you're saying. I'll do something.

@Shadow - Yeah, I don't really have a regional accent. I always spoke "Hochdeutsch".

Hey guys, I thought about giving the Cavalier idle a go, here it is, basically he rears his horse with his sword in the air :P.. This is one of my firsts to show here, so if you put me on the right direction I can make changes, but anyhow here it is:

I'd say: many more frames. It looks really clunky now. Also, what is the pommel doing? And he seems to be shaking his head rather randomly. Another thing is he shakes inside of the frame. Are you using GIMP? That'd make this a lot easier to make a good .gif. How come his sword changes? I sort of see what you want to do, but it's not working.

Anyway: Keep at it. Keep perfecting and making more. Only that way will you learn.

More frames, aye, for two reasons:

1) The animation could be smoother.

2) For giving the classic horse-in-action gesture, you really need to double the number of frames.

Ah I see, I know what to fix now :P

The random shaking of the head is my attempt at making human-like movements, so he's glimpsing at you, but I'll probably remove that.

As for the sword, basically normal frames of the Cavalier have it at an angle, whereas on other sprites if the sword is held vertical much more detail is seen with the sword all clear, the abrupt change from this is probably what makes it look off, also when the sword is behind the horse head it makes people slightly confused. Fell into the trap with the shaking-in-the-frame bit, but yeah, that'll be fixed.

Personally using GIMP is a nightmare to use.. I'm using Photoshop atm..

Photoshop is also the best tool for this, it's only competitor being the GIMP. Some tutorials in Wesnoth Art Creation wiki are based on you using Photoshop.

But, I suppose you keep the original png files, don't you?

Yeah, I keep all the frames, even the ones I don't use for easy access/modifying, and incase I need to change anything. I've also had a look at the tutorials, so basic trial, error, improvement, learning for me :P
