So, after having come to the conclusion that all the factions are currently balanced...
Which I pretty much believe.
What faction do you think has an edge in intangibles? Is there a faction that can pull off more last minute saves, make the most unexpected attacks and advances, do the most set-ups, and are just generally the coolest. Or maybe just seem to have the most charisma.
For several reasons, I would have to say Rebels are my favorite faction. I can explain some of this, but part of it is just preference.

Yeah, I like Rebels more too and I win more with them. I think this is to do with their recruit list's similarity to what you can recruit in HttT.
Ambush adds to the cool factor and helps pull off sneaky last minute saves.
And elves have most of the coolest units (except thieves and fencers, but they have mages, woses, shamans, and... champions!)
They have dextrous, which is better (IMO) than undead
They have all damage types availible by level 2 (please correct me if I'm wrong here).
I think Rebels are the most popular faction, followed by possibly northerners, based on the number of games played with them.
Rebels have unexpected stuff, and they're the coolest and the most charismatic.

yup, ive been through numerous 2v2 where 3 out of 4 leaders are elvish captains. i cant say that about any other default era leader. (on large heroes era maps, everyone is, naturally, silver mage). i used to play mainly elves too, but recently dwarves & undead have sympathized me more. i just got bored of the same units all the time.
I'd only say that factions are globally balanced, but that, for an example, Drakes are no match against Undeads, or that elves are weaker against dwarves than against orcs.

For me, what makes some factions more equal than others is the combinations they have available. I'll cite 2: Thieves to backstab, and Gryphon Riders to get behind the enemy and make the backstab possible. Rebel Shamen to slow the foe, and then something or other to attack the now less dangerous enemy
