Problem! no campaigns with my ubuntu

Post by Greek Maniac »

I downloaded Wesnoth 1.1.8 whith my ubuntu, and the first thing I went to do is to start playing a campaign. :) But the Campaign selection menu didn't exist... :( So I went to the game's directory to find the "campaigns" folder into the "data" directory very angry. Then I saw something terrible! The "campaigns" folder doesn't exist!!!!!!! :o  Please! Help me by posting the default campaigns here! It's boring not to playing httt, tsg, to2b, roW, ei, or utbs!(I need at least one of them.Better Under the Burning Suns (my favourite campaign)).I'm lucky my campaigns "Thieves Guild" and "Collect the Source" as Apostolos_The_Greek are there for download. :!:

if one of you has the same problem may download from here the campaigns

Adept

Post by sloarch06 »

Ubutu is a debian based Linux distro that has a great tool called the Adept Package Manager. At the command line type "sudo adept_manager" or in Kubuntu type "kdesu adept_manager". You then enter you admin password to gain access.

Run a quick search for Wesnoth and you will see all of the campaigns. Select them for installation and then click "apply changes". When you return to Wesnoth the campaigns should be available to play!

Ubuntu has Synaptic and not Adept :)

Run Synaptic from a terminal or from System -> Administration -> Synaptic
Search for Wesnoth as the poster above said, then you will see a list of wesnoth files and some of them will be the campaign you are looking for.

Synaptic

Post by sloarch06 »

Sorry for the confusion. I was using Kubuntu at the time I posted and forgot that Ubuntu was using Synaptic. My previous post will work great for those using Kubuntu and KDE!

Or just open the Terminal and type:

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install wesnoth-ei wesnoth-httt wesnoth-sotbe wesnoth-trow
I don't know how will they work with your Wesnoth version though (the one included by default in the repositories is 1.0.2).
