1.1.5 Highspeed for Windows
Hey,
First, the speed is really faster in this release. Good point.
Second, there are troubles with the display: there seems to be some kind of refresh of the whole screen when doing anything (focus on a character, fighting, etc.)
I'll try to make screenshots to show the issue.

We know about the display issues of the alternative build. Those were explicitely mentioned when it was announced. The only intention is to get confirmation that it's faster for those who find recent versions to slow to play and to get reports like the one with the illegal instructions on K6-III which indicate a wrong architecture setting in the compile.

It's a little faster, but still slow compared to 1.0.2. The units move quicker in 1.1.5 than in 1.1.4, though noticeably slower than 1.0.2. The pause between units is less- there isn't the sluggish feeling that the computer is trying to decide what to do next.
Combat is still very slow. There are long pauses in 1.1.5 where in 1.0.2 combat is lightning quick. I played the first scenario of Httt again, and 1.1.5 wasn't too far behind 1.02 up to about turn 4. Then combat started, and 1.1.5 lagged badly, the overall performance being not much better than 1.1.4.

Unit movement speed itself was deliberately slowed down. You can't compare 1.0.2 and 1.1.1 or later in this respect. What's more interesting is wheter the AI got much slower for example.

I think we should not compare 1.0.2 WIN with the new 1.1.5 WIN (2)!
The developer needs info about the difference between 1.1.5 WIN (1) and the new 1.1.5 WIN (2.).
Yes, it is faster. No waiting at the fightings and the units move fast as hell when using speed up unit movement. AI not thinking and doing nothing at its turn. Great!
Display problems like a unit vanishes, flickering help info .... thats the price for more speed atm.
I use windowed mode with 1280x960, WIN XP (SP2).
Nice job - Thx.

No. Those are just problems with a new toolchain where we still have to find out the correct way to build everything. Compiling for Windows isn't exactly easy.Haimar wrote:Display problems like a unit vanishes, flickering help info .... thats the price for more speed atm.
