Problem Joining Official Server
Hi guys,
I compiled version 1.12a from source code the other day under Mandriva Linux 2006 and everything seems to work fine. I can play offline and everything works great.
My problem comes when I try to join the Official Server to play online. I click "Join Official Server" and it sits there for a second then crashes to the desktop. My terminal window contains a message that says "*** glibc detected *** free(): invalid next size (fast): 0x08974228 *** Aborted"
I'm pretty sure I have all the required libraries installed but does anyone have any ideas on things I might try?
Thanks in advance for any info!!

I've been messing around a little and I tried hosting & joining a game on my local network and got the same error (although the address in the error message was different). So apparently something is messed up with my network configuration or something. Internet is working fine so I'm wondering if it might be one of the SDL libraries not installed right or something?
Any ideas?

Sorry to keep bumping my own post but I just want to give as much info as possible because I'm dying to get online and play. I tried re-compiling the SDL_net library just to make sure that wasn't the issue but I get the same error.
Everything else seems to be working network-wise on my Linux system... I can connect fine to other games like FreeCiv and the internet and applications like AIM work great.

Open port 15000
If you want the full range of ports used by the game, I think it's 14999-15003. That also covers the svn mp server and the campaign servers.

Hope springs eternal.

OK I have a little more information... Apparently I jumped the gun in stating this was an online-only problem.
The crash does occur any time I try to join either the multiplayer server or a LAN game. However, it also occurs when I try to connect to the campaign server and yesterday it happened while trying to start up a multiplayer game vs. the AI.
So basically I think the only part of the game that IS functioning without the crash is the campaigns. I can play the campaigns fine though and they work great. I need my online fix though!!
As I stated before, I am running Mandriva Linux 2006 with all the latest updates. I also have the latest versions of all the required SDL libraries from the SDL website.
Anyone have any ideas?
