Aha... I remembered somebody mentioning "binary saves" in the old thread. I found the option, turned it off, and now the level works! I do not know why this works, or even what "binary saves" are, but I will say that it is a very tricky level!

It says quite plainly at the main page (or whatever it's called) that there's version 1.0.2 available for Windows, but the link leads to version 1.0.1. Perhaps this is a mistake?
Download Wesnoth 1.0.2:
* Source (39MB)
* Windows (39MB)
* MacOSX (55MB)
* and more.
The other links are ok, of course...

Nay, it is not. The version for windows is not provided yet.

What always works is the source, the rest of the binaries is provided, by some players(developers), who compile the source. So ye may wait for the binary, or try to compile (and feel free to post it!).

There is no windows binary of the release yet. I updated the homepage to show this a bit better. And, no, we do not know when the windows release will be ready, it only depends on the packager. Once the packager has the time to create, test and upload it, there will be a windows binary.

So it was a mistake? I mean that the link seemed to lead to version 1.0.2 when it didn't... Anyway, it wasn't that big issue of course, but I thought that i would point it out whatsoever. :)

Hi guys,

I downloaded and compiled Wesnoth 1.0.1 roughly two weeks ago.
Now, if i compile Wesnoth 1.0.2, will it update my 1.0.1?

I'm running Linux (Mandriva 2006).

Thanks.

Hi there,

I'm trying to patch my 1.0.1 windows exe with the xdelta file posted in this thread but it gives me an error:

xdelta patch 101to102-source.xdelta wesnoth-windows-1.0.1.exe wesnoth-windows-1.0.2.exe
xdelta: warning: expected compressed from file (wesnoth-windows-1.0.1.exe)
xdelta: expected from file (wesnoth-windows-1.0.1.exe) of length 61265920 bytes

Is the xdelta file posted not compatible with the windows install?

Cheers!

Yes, the xdelta is NOT compatible with the windows version. It is only a patch for the SOURCES, not for the Windows-Binary. Once there is a Windows-Binary we will create the patch for the old (1.0.1) windows installer.

how to install?

Post by Casimir »

OK, I am a noob, starting with Windows 1.0.1 version.

How do I install this 1.0.2 release? I know nothing about programing.

Why is the Windows installer download still at 1.0.1 ?

Is this release intended only for MAC?

They just compress the saves you have so if you say save-load and save every turn you don't find you have a stupid amount of memory taken up.

So with "Binary Saves" on saves and loads are quicker?

Without having it tested my stomach feeling tells me that you won't notice any difference in speed, even if it exists. The main reason is saving space.
