I really like idea of adding mist to forest...
Your image is just too dark IMHO. Yes - I know - it is dark forest + mist, but it looks strange next to current forest. Maybe it would look better as separate terrian.. or next to dark forest, but without mist?
I think you should ask Jetryl, fmunoz or Neorice about their opinion.

Thanks for your kind comments, friends! :)

Anyway, I can change these tiles to "misty forest", instead of "misty dark forest" - as the image is layered, it is indeed very easy... I just need the original forest transparency for that (couldnt find that in my wesnoth folders)

Also, do you thing it should be less foggy? Should I change the mist's colors?

The fog on top should probably be 5-10% transparency less.

IMHO you need a few different tiles of the same forest to make it look better (3 or 4 are ok)
The soil betwen the trees seems to ligth to me, maybe a darker "ashy" grey with more contrast...

Looks promising.

I would try to reduce the effect by about half. The trees you've changed are fine, but the fog needs to be about half as opaque.

Do that, and post a screenshot

Hi friends! :)

Here are two new versions... One with 10% less opacity, and the other half as opaque as the ones before it (following Jetryl's and Zebulon's advices).

Could someone please put these tiles together? I still havent learned how to do that...

By the way... Is there any way to make units in these tiles surrounded by mist? Like what happens when you're on water or swamps...

Hm... I think they are very better, now :)

Do you think anything else should be changed?

The weird thing is that in the 50% less image, the tops of the trees also appear to have been faded out. The 10% treetops are dark.

I think the transitions could be improved upon. Could you make tendrils of fog extend out of the dark forest trees? It might help the fog blend better with the other tiles. The trees blend alright all by themselves, but the fog needs some help. I'll try to do a mockup if my meaning isn't clear.

Edit: never mind about the treetops. I think I see what the difference is.
It would be nice if some treetops could poke through in the middle of the tile.

Thunderblade, you have made excellent terrains that would be worthy of being put into the game if they were of greater quantity, no more quality is necessary. The art you have made has far exceeded what most could have done, excellent job.

That having been said, I know that for some terrains (such as cave) the image extends over into another hex and covers it. I think that this terrain would blend better if slight wisps of mist covered nearby terrains.

I agree with others' posts saying that multiple types of this terrain should be created. I think that when doing this it would create a more random feel if not just how opaque the mist is is changed. If the positioning of the mist and trees was changed a true "misty forest" it would look like rather than a tiled image of a misty forest.
In summation, you're wrong.
