Several of our mainline campaigns are in the works for upgrades at the moment, which includes adding characters and enhancing existing scenarios. We are looking for more artwork to supplement these upgrades, including the following:
We are happy to announce that Wesnoth is now able to accept donations on Liberapay . While Wesnoth does rely on the work of dedicated volunteers, no project can function completely cost-free. Revenue from the Apple App Store and from donations goes towards maintaining our servers,...
Please make sure to read the wiki page regarding how Wesnoth handles copyright. Not reading on how Wesnoth handles copyright does not prevent the information stated therein from applying to everything posted to this forum.
There have been numerous important forum posts and wiki articles written by users and developers. We reference these pages a lot, and decided to put them together in a convenient list.
Write clearly, be nice to others, and be very careful when posting anything related to politics or religion. When asking for help, remember that everyone here is a volunteer. Prefer editing your previous post over double posting. No animated avatars or graphical signatures. Don’t plagiarize other’s...
There are certain technical requirement for mainline portraits. For easy access, I'm going to sticky them here so people can read them and link to them rather than having to type them out every time they're needed.
Generic unit portraits:
Two sizes are needed. One goes in the help, one is...
Welcome to Battle for Wesnoth's Art Forum. This is where a lot of our in-game images get hammered into shape, and is a place designed for the discussion of art designed for use in our game. In this topic, we've listed all the info you'd need to do your own work.
Now, since this is a very simple unit, I've been using it to experiment with standing animations, and I've found out that these, unlike death or attack animations, must consist on a rather significant amount of frames but with very little variations on the sprite from frame...
Although almost no core mainline units are in need of new sprites, there's plenty of campaign units which are desperately in need of higher-quality sprites and/or animations. Here's a list of our current needs, separate into two categories; those which need an update to both their base sprites and...
i post this tutorial mainly to get feedback: is it understandable and comprehensible? is it helpful? is something unclear? do you want to know anything else?

This is a little tutorial on how i approach my portraits in the standard wesnothian style (which means inked and...
After some discussion we have decided to add the following guidelines for any future contributions of story art:
Story art intended to fill the screen should preferably be drawn at a 16:9 widescreen ratio. However, other ratios are acceptable, especially for images not intended to...
Thanks to Chusslove, the engine has now an improved system for handling localization of pictures. Whenever it has to load a picture, it searches if there is a localized version of it, or if there is a localized picture that can be overlaid on it.
As a general rule, posts in the the Art Contribution section should be meaningful in some way--addressing a question asked by the poster, or giving C&C. Posting simply to say how awesome something is is a great sentiment, but when it happens every time, over every image, can get quite noisy....
Wesnoth is what it is because of the efforts of many people. Code contribution has been tracked directly with svn or git , but credit and copyrights for artistic contributions has been a more manual process. In an effort to streamline the attribution and copyrights, we now require the following...
afaik the northern rebirth portraits are the ones in most need of an upgrade? I'm not sure if my art is up to standard or not but here are some concepts that might have potential

I might redo the pose for this as his arms are annoying me, but here's tallin
Walking corpses have so many variations, this is probably a big can of worms (hah!) but the help menu would look better if there were at least a default portrait. What would straddle the line between goofy and gruesome? Would this be OK? (I mean as a concept. I know it has errors, like the tiny...
Following the call for mainline art, I decided to try my best and make a custom Melbrin for the (Revised) South Guard campaign. In this thread I'd like to gather some feedback/ideas on how to improve his design.
But first I need to address the question some will have: IF he should be improved or...
This thread is part of the project that aims to expand the Dunefolk and their habitat. There have been some threads discussing possible expansions (which I am gonna base this thread on), none of them ended up being canonised however. With the occasion of consolidating Dunefolks...
I'm new to this forum, I played Wesnoth some time ago and I really enjoyed it.
I'm an artist, and I was wondering if there is need for some portrait i could do in my spare time.
Which subject do you suggest for a first evaluation?
This was loooong overdue : following up on a discussion with the dev team, I have finally begun reviewing portraits. I am putting this here while it's still in progress, maybe it can be moved somewhere more appropriate later.

Hello, need constructive art criticism for the attached unit art, related to ( ). The details could be found there, but I'm also quoting them here :
Sulla's power in Aethermaw seem to be far more than what can be expected of a Wesnothian Great Mage, so updated the lore and gave her a new type...
I've been sketching drakes for a while now and recently decided I'd clean and ink one of those sketches. Here's the result : a drake arbiter that will likely serve as an alternate to whatever TSI comes up with when he gets back to drakes.

EDIT 2021-05-15: Closing this because time is up. More would have been nice, but reality is what it is....
As a temporary interest, I used the resources in wesnoth and used the image editor of gimp to make a few wallpapers, which can be used in the battle of the game
Of...
This is a WIP for the falconer line of the Dunefolk. This isn't the most important Dunefolk portait, and I'm not LordBob, but maybe this can spur some progress.

Do we have any statistics to know how many people were active, or are active now,
with a focus on art? Here I refer to graphics/images mostly, but we can extend this
to ALL art in general, including creativity/storytelling.
I don't need the specific dataset as such, just roughly to see a trend....
Hello. Maybe a stupid idea, but can we add a portrait to the Dunefolk Soldnier? Think is, that we allready have an image, i believe.
If you chceck portraits, you can see in 1.15 files, that loyalist swordsman have multiple portraits. 1st is used, what is okay. Second is not. And the third one...
