Azlan's hills look better IMO. Neither the old ones or the ones in CVS really make me think of hills; I've shown them to some people and they couldn't tell just what that terrain was supposed to be.

How about a Goblin Wolf Chariot?

Very cool, that would be great.

jmosher: Dave and Sithrandel talked about this: http://wesnoth.whitevine.net/forum/phpB ... ory+macosx

What I don't know is the final location Sithrandel chose for the preferences directory on MacOSX. On Linux it's on your home folder, on a hidden directory.

charlieg: I don't think Dave will be thrilled at the idea of rewritting all the GUI code. Besides, the work is already done, so I can't see the point on migrating the whole codebase to a new toolkit (and don't forget library dependencies). Oh, I forgot. Don't mention SVG when Dave's around, it drive...

What about "I think multiplayer maps need some work" instead of "multiplayer maps are horrible"? Just in case you forgot, you are getting this game for Free, so you should be grateful to have multiplayer maps at all. ;) Multiplayer isn't the forte of the game, more of a nice add-...

Woodwizzle, we wrote almost the same at the same time, hehe.

I really really like the idea of grouping, haven't thought of it but it would surely help newbies progress.

Yes, I had thought about that problem. First, there should be some way to rank an army (or a player), so you know what you are up to before being completely overrun. Besides that, some things I think could work: Global experience multipliers, depending on the relative ranks of each army, so you almo...

Oh, I forgot YASS (Yet Another Silly Suggestion). Instead of just 'factions', what about "army lists"? You could have several different lists per faction, depending on the historical time frame, for example. Each list would modifiy the recruitable units, and possibly their costs; and perha...

Svetac: Well, I am the poor fellow who did some of the dwarvish aberratio... erhm, units. I'm not an artist, they were ment more as working prototypes or mockups so true gifted people would take on the idea and "do them right", and rip offs of fmunoz's artwork. Board riders: could be great...

russ_allegro: you could get the same by means of gold in a (IMO) more KISS way, and even without changing a line of code (well, almost :P). The thing is that allowing players to recruit high level (2+) units is not well seen and collides with the basic design principles of the game. If you want a po...

I remember discussing the issue with elves and gryphon riders a while ago. I think it was with miyo, here on the forum, should look for the post. Anyway, Gryphons are big, mean creatures who (IMO) suit better a human rider. Elves could ride pegasus or eagles instead. Compared to gryphons they are fa...

That would be a very nice change. Alpha blending could allow some nice things, like better terrain transitions or translucent light effects (Delfador's lightning, fireball, etc). I'm sure the artists would put this into good use.

I think defend could work very well as a skill, just for some units (spearmen, for example). I like miyo's way better though, it fits very well with the "all skills active by default" Dave highlighted on the main design principles. You don't really need a button for defending; if after you...

Sorry, didn't want to imply that was a conclusion you shared with me, Dave, hehe. It's just a personal opinion, and since MP is not the main focus of the game, I agree that going that way now would not be a great idea. That said, when more users play Wesnoth online I think it would be very very nice...
