Great Mage Nicolas
Better than what I'll ever be able to do, but I would advise you to use white sheets of paper instead of your what looks like a school rough paper with lines on it.

I would advise you (once again) to use white sheets of paper. The drawing itself is not bad (except I don't know where that tree comes from...), but you it is impossible to use this and make it a final protrait using an image editor.

1. argh my neck!!! post them in the right orientation already!
2. his pose is totally off - a living human would find it extremely awkward to stand like that and couldn't keep it up - I tried, and was only able to hold the posture for around 10 seconds, and that's even without a ton of armor and a heavy hammer.
3. I don't mind the tree. The detailing is pretty decent, in comparison.
4. not to brag, but, it's been done.

It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.
What the hell is that to be bragging about?Elvish Pillager wrote:4. not to brag, but, it's been done.
That drawing is utter crap.
Honestly, Eli - are you completely blind to your own faults?
I'm being harsh here because I care, and want you to get better. Time and time again you've posted new drawings with the same embarrasing mistakes in them. I've tried giving advice, but given the respondent comments, I honestly wonder if you're blatantly ignoring me.
Nicolas: Try using the levels filter on your drawing, it can help to make the paper much whiter and the pencil much blacker, as it should be in a drawing of this type (cell-shaded). This filter can be used from a program like Adobe Photoshop (expensive), or the Gimp (free).

*shrug* There's a reason I'm not bragging.Jetryl wrote:What the hell is that to be bragging about?
I try not to ignore what you say, but when I get in front of a piece of paper, it doesn't make sense to me... there's the way I draw, and the way I should draw, and the only way I'm going to get closer is by getting tons of practice, which I'm not getting.

Wesnoth is very professional (except some parts...) at the moment. These images not very close to anything even half-pro. I advise to take some practice and learn a bit before post. You can find very valuable sources of stuff at http://www.fineart.sk or http://www.saveloomis.org.
I suggest you to start there first.

While these are certainly not of high enough quality to be included in game, there is no reason that these should not be posted where they were posted. Short of taking a professional class, posting draft images is the only way to get the kind of feedback necessary to improve one's skill to the point where the images would become of sufficient high quality to be used in game. Long before an artist does work good enough to be included in the mainline, he might be able to do work that is good enough for a user made campaign that has no art. The reorganization of the forum, I think, should encourage the posting of wesnoth related images in this open contributions forum that are not "professional" quality. When contributions in this forum approach the level of skill that merit inclusion into the game, they will undoubtedly get promoted into the restricted forum.gpetersz wrote:Wesnoth is very professional (except some parts...) at the moment. No forgiveness necessary. For one thing, the forum restructuring only took place within the last week. As for UMCs, they get images wherever they can! You can find the restricted forum in the developer's section or go here:gpetersz wrote:Then forgive me, I didn't know that there is a restricted forum!
So, now we are in the general forum?
Then I apologise, and am terribly sorry. So UMC's got images from this forum?

Anyone can read the forum, although only developers and forum members who have been demonstrated that they can engage in constructive commentary are permitted to post there.
By the way, your artwork on the website in your sig are most impressive. [shameless plug]you wouldn't want to contribute some pics for wesnoth, would you?[/shameless plug] Even if not, I am sure that any helpful advise you give to our artists will be good to have.
