Wesnoth 0.9.6
Greetings from the Akademy.
Wesnoth 0.9.6 is out!
As the previous release, this one is just another step towards a shiny Wesnoth 1.0. It contains mainly bugfixes but also new portraits for lots of units and, of course, translation updates.
Several translation teams have already got the core packages translated, so British English, Latin, Swedish, German and Catalan translations will be for sure in Wesnoth 1.0. If you would like Wesnoth 1.0 translated to your language, you still can help your language team.
You can check details at http://changelog.wesnoth.org.
Downloads:
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... z?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download
You can get the xdelta from the 0.9.5 source to 0.9.6 here (1.6MB):
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... a?download
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/wesn ... 5?download
As a fallback you can also get files from
http://files.wesnoth.org/ - you should first try to get files
through SourceForge to help us save bandwidth.
server.wesnoth.org will soon be running 0.9.6 and can be used for multiplayer games.
Instructions for bug reporting can be found -
http://wesnoth.slack.it/?ReportingBugs
MacOS X, Mandrakelinux, Windows and BeOS packagers have been informed. Debian packages are already uploaded to Sid and will be available tonight.
Enjoy it!

Oh, great, now I'll have a hard time choosing which to use.lwa wrote:Did you merged the bug fixes and improvements I added in my builds of 0.9.5 ?Sithrandel wrote:Mac binary is at:

I'm doing an install kit for Mac with few requirments (Xcode 2.1, SDL frameworks family) and a single step (copy the kit into the source directory, open the project and press "build" on the "Disk image" target). Should be ready in the next days.Sithrandel wrote:I haven't had the time to look at the changes you have made... so no. When I have the time I'll have a look at them
Probably because it does not need extra software to use it.muxec wrote:BTW why archeiving in tar.gz? 7z works better for both source code and executables.
tar and gzip are very common. It may be a good idea to offer an extra archive compressed with bzip2 who offer a better compression ratio and who is common too.
On MacOSX, the prefered way is to use disk images you just have to mount by clicking on. The disk image may be internaly compressed (with gzip. bzip2 is only supported since 10.4). But it mean that only Mac users are able to use this images.
If you want ot use POSIX utilities, you should use .pax.Z, but nobody use this in real life.
PowerPC's can't unzip .7z, as far as I can see.muxec wrote:Great news:)

Hope springs eternal.
