Anyone like to start Campaigns based on Chinese Characters?
Hi all
If I can come out with stories and Character Descriptions in Chinese myths/well-known-stories, is there anyone who will like to join force with me in creating a Chinese campaign?

I would help you on it...although maybe not for a while. I haven't been doing much Wesnoth related lately.
Don't go to Glowing Fish for advice, he will say both yes and no.
It be cool make a chinese culture faction for the campaign or just units...can be 3kingdom stuff too but i don't know what other think.
Well, I too have thought of using 3 Kingdom stuff. For the benefits of those not knowing what 3 Kingdoms is all about:
1) The well-known characters are (in Hanyu Pinyin) Liu Bei (the leader), Zhang Fei (a great General and the youngest sworn brother of Liu Bei), Guan Yu (another great General, and the sworn brother of Liu Bei) and Zhuge Liang (Liu Bei's advisor who later bacome his Prime Minister) on the one side, and Cao Cao and his advisors/Generals on the other side.
2) While there exist other warlords, the two sides mentioned in (1) are well known. Also in Wesnoth setting, Lie Bei is the "good" side, while Cao Cao the "bad" side.
3) The Campaign could begin by player controlling Liu Bei, while AI controlling Zhang Fei and Guan Yu fighting against Hong Qi Jun (a rebel group that fought againsts the then Emperor) This can be an easy start, allowing player to win easily to boost interest. At the completion of this scene, the three entered the Peach Garden and sworn before the Chinese gods to become "brothers", willing to take care of one another and even die for one another.
4) Then come the interesting part. Well, before i go further, let me reveal that the original works is two books having height equivalent to a Learners' Dictionary. But therein contain stories of great heroism and war strategies.
(I believe many have heard of great business persons applying these strategies in their modern business management.) Also therein contains stories of how Zhuge Liang apparently summon the elements of nature (wind and rain) to fight against his enemies. Strategies include espionage, using natural and spiritual forces, deceptions and illusions, even releasing an enemy leader so as to recapture him again!
So, before i go further with summaries of interesting chapters, may I do a poll as to how many are willing to support this idea of creating a campaign (or campaigns) using 3 Kingdom?
Alternatively, I can use Chinese mythical characters, including the qilin.
The challenge here is: drawing the characters. Almost all of them are hybrid of less than 30% human and the rest other parts.
For example: Sun Wu Kong though is a monkey, behaves like a human and can transform himself into Man, Woman and other animals.
Example 2: The Dragon Kings are, .... well .... Dragon Kings. You simply have to see the picture to know them. Like Chinese Characters, there is no guessing. One either knows it or one does not.
So.... Any takers? I can come out with summaries of "Journey to the West", another famous folk talk among the Chinese.
Well, back to the poll. 3 Kingdoms or Journey to the West? or other recommendations.
