The undead Crossing

Post by GreyElfArcher »

How do I beat the undead crossing. I have 3 shock troops 1 dragoon and some other guys. I don't have a ton of gold but I can't beat it. I believe this is in the easterling invasion campaign. Thank you.

Take the dragoon, and any other near-advanced horsemen you have (hopefully you have a knight). Send them due west over the swamp, and have them go up the western path to the island.

Have Dacyn, Gweddry, Owaec, whoever got the first holy water (usually a swordsman by now) and 2-3 shock troopers go up the eastern path. The undead will go for them, not the horsemen.

By the time the cuttlefish appears, the horsemen should be on the island, and the undead attacking Gweddry's group defeated. Move Gweddry's group into a defensive position, and prepare to be attacked. Any units near the top of the eastern path should move up and help the assassins attack the lich.

Which one? By scenario 7 there have been 2 already; the one in Escape Tunnel (it is in the northern passage) and the one in Northern Outpost (it is in the middle of the lake).

But there isn't a lake anymore! The holy water is nowhere to be found...

Ah, right, I forgot... I'll put it somewhere, though.

GreyElfArcher isn't oblivious, he came here looking for strategy advice. Debug being a well-documented feature, I'm sure if GreyElfArcher had wanted to cheat he wouldve never posted this thread in the first place and just turned on debug mode/edited his files.

Based on the previous advice, I assume the level has changed from then when I played it.

I killed the starting necromancer on the second turn with my holy watered leader, recruited a horseman to take islands, and ran a couple of quick shocktroopers and a quick white mage up through the left-hand shallow water passage along with another quick infantry and my other leader. Had a slower shocktrooper to head that way too, but to protect the back from the orcs as they came down the other side of the fork.

I'm not sure how useful that is, though I certainly had trouble on this level, as it's not very easy to withdraw injured units from the frontline. My game was over before any cuttlefish made an entrance.

You sound like you're talking about the non-Undead Crossing.

Could be... I'm thinking of the map where the necromancer starts just below you with a second appearing later on. You have to cross a river whilst orcs cross from the other direction. Campaign is... The one where you have to kill lots of undead :]
