Kelba's Magic Gold v1 (1337 Gold Hack)

Post by Kelba »

Moderator's note: the attachment has been deleted. If anyone wishes to provide cheats, the Wesnoth forum is not the place to do it.

Hey what do you know, looks like Wesnoth already has a hack for it. Thanks to me.

Alright, all you have to do is open it up and press "Gold Hack On" or hit "1" and you have infinite gold while you play.

Works on Multiplayer

Have fun :P

You know, somthing like this just destroys all the challange of the game and drasticly reduces the difficulty.... which is why i'm probbly going to use it at least once. <.<

ONe second thought.... wouldnt this be a probblem online?

Yup. And?

For the players: Have fun untill the next patch

For the Devs: Have fun fixing it. A suggestion is if you can, make the value for gold serverside.

...............

Oh God damnit.......

It's bad enough that your typical Retail game gets Crap hacks made for it.... now we have to deal with gold hacks in Wesnoth! At least work in a SP only or something.

That's impossible. Because of how the game was coded, any single player hacks will work online.

Ahahahahahahahahaha.

Uh, this game works on the honor system. Its like playing a game of chess. You don't just brush off all you opponents pices off the board beacuse then no one would play with you.

The Devs know how easy it is to cheat and there not going to anything about. If you want to cheat go ahead, if you want to play with someone good luck trying to find anyone.

BTW all you need to "hack" wesnoth is text editor.

Why would anyone actually choose to run an .exe file of unknown provenance?

I wouldn't touch this with a bargepole unless a source version was available for inspection.

Wesnoth doesn't care about people who cheat. The devs have said they aren't interested in adding hack resistance to a game that can be trivially modified with a text editor.

I didn't even download it, so I didn't know it was a .exe.

That being known: Kelba, Battle for Wesnoth is licensed under the GNU GPL, which means that if you distribute it or a modified version of it, you must provide the source code as well, and licence your version under the GNU GPL as well.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

So this hack is a recompiled Wesnoth binary? If so, I agree about the GPL issue.
Hope springs eternal.

It's not a recompiled version or anything. And I doubt you can change how much gold you have simply with a text editor while you are playing online.

All I did was take the original game, take a memory sniffer, find the value for gold, and compiled a small program that allows you to freeze that value so it does not decrease. You can also unfreeze.

As far as I know, this is modifing YOUR data on YOUR machine, not the actual software.

Which is stored in a text file, so you CAN change it with a text file... its harder, but you can.

And i do think this would have to be released under GPL, but i'm not sure. Dave?

Not sure if you can do it while you are online. Anyway this is easier, you just hit a button and you're done.

And it doesn't have to be released under the GPL. It's just a trainer, not a recompiled version.
