How do I defeat drakes?

Post by kzar »

Hi, I've been playing my sister at this game and she keeps beating me! She always uses drakes and I switch about with the different races. The main problem is I can rarely can controll enough houses. In one game I managed to with vampire bats but usualy they get killed by her drakes really easily and soon enough I cant afford to buy more bats I am doomed.

Hope you can help anyway because the scores at the moment are somthing like 4 - 2 to her

Thanks :D

Spearmen are great against Drakes. Dark Adepts deal out powerful cold damage.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.

Elves in forests are great too. Anything with a damage type of "Pierce" will make short work of Drakes.

Rebels/Elves -> Elvish Archers, Fighters, Scouts, Mermen
Loyalists/Humans -> Spearmen, Horsemen and Bowmen
Chaotic Humans -> Poachers
Dwarves -> Dwarvish Guardsmen, Dwarvish Thunderer
Undead -> Skeleton Archer, Dark Adept
Northerners -> Orcish Bowman, Goblin Spearmen

As a footnote

Post by Shade »

As a footnote, the best way of countering 'People with pointy things' is Saurians, Saurian, Saurians... The skirmisher is the best choice (As I might mention on devel that the Shaman probably shouldn't have skirmish... Which was something I was on the fence about when I was whipping up the unit.)

edit: The Clasher is pierce neutral- so they will fare OK as well...

I, in a multiplayer game wrote:First there were Drakes, and that was bad, but now it's the Saurian faction and it's worse.
Even the basic Saurian is overpowered at present.

I didn't touch the stats on that :) The Saurian Tribalist should probably lose the skirmish- Since the 'new Drakes' went in I've been slowly incresing their power (starting with them being slightly weak), to try to get the too tough / too weak volume level just about right... More sweeping adjustment aren't going to happen- but any individual concerns I have (Those will likely be the concerns that get mentioned here) will get forwarded to the developer mailing list... Well when I get back anyway (Still on my holiday)...

Then again, drakes used to suck donkey nads before they got saurians. You might try seeing if raising the saurian skirmisher cost by 1 and removing skirmisher from tribalists does the trick. Let's not be hasty here.

Well, here's "not proof" of the fact that Saurians are overpowered.

Yeah, they're good at that, especially at night against al low-hp 'king' (It's generally called a 'leader')
