and thus to throw gas on the embers of a long-dead fire, I've been thinking the elven rider is a bit too weak in terms of damage dealt, especially at high levels.
Currently, they have no use as combatants, because a level-2 scout of most other races outclasses their damage capability at level-3. Ex: a level-2 goblin knight does 7-4 - more than the level-3 Outrider.
Not only do players decline to engage them in combat in interests of their self-preservation, but they also do so because their being level-3 gives too much xp to the enemy - dangerously so if the unit dies.
I would suggest a slight improvement in bow damage:
This is enough to make it appropriately capable, but not powerful.
Current:
Scout 4-3sword 4-2bow
Rider 5-4sword 5-3bow
Outrider 6-4sword 5-4bow
Suggestion:
Scout 4-3sword 5-2bow
Rider 5-4sword 6-3bow
Outrider 6-4sword 7-4bow
-----------------
on a side note - the goblin direwolf rider seems a bit steep in xp costs. IIRC, it costs 150, whereas I think it should be reduced to 100.

It seems slight enough to me, although people are already complaining that the elves are too powerful.
I would prefer to just give them ambush, but oh well, I guess you can't have everything...

Space is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind- bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the drug store, but that's just peanuts to space.

well, i must agree that outriders fight like level 2 units but maybe that's because they have insane defense? i mean, which other mounted unit get's to have 70% defense on 2 terrains? but still, they need a slight offense buff, maybe 6-4 for bowJetryl wrote:

I think 2 would be better. (pay only 16 gold for weakest of the three normal scouts; the most powerful normal scout costs only one gold more, so who can argue?)eugenelim wrote:I think that the elf scout should have his cost lowered by 1 gp.
It's all fun and games until someone loses a lawsuit. Oh, and by the way, sending me private messages won't work. :/ If you must contact me, there's an e-mail address listed on the website in my profile.
