Looking for Maintainers

Post by Velensk »

Very soon I will be leaving to work in an area where I will have limited access to computers (if any at all to the internet). I should be gone for about 2 and a half years possibly a bit less.

I will be leaving behind a number of Wesnoth projects that I consider to be 'living' and I would appreciate if someone (can be multiple people) would step up and volunteer to maintain them while I'm gone. I will endeavor to refine each of these as much as I can before I go but I will likely be very busy throughout the next week. If anyone does I will send them the .pbl for it and any thoughts/instructions I have.

The Era of Four Moons project (era and campaigns) already has a maintainer (the artist). I do not expect her to do much in the way up updating the gameplay but as the project is very much her own as well, it seems fitting that she maintain it (this will also make it easier for her to keep updating the art).

The other projects that I consider living:

Count Kromire (Esperon has been maintaining this but I think incase he does not wish to contribute I will mention it here).
Gunpowder Age
My multiplayer maps: (I have only one mainline map but there are several others I've been working on that it would be nice to have tested/polished, I could leave this to the map community in general but if anyone specific wants to take these on I'll hand them over.

Projects which are not living but which I will still hand out if anyone wants to try their hand at reviving them

War of the Dragon: I have the remaining scenarios plotted out but this campaign was exhausting both to make and especially to test and although I enjoyed it a ton at the start I got very sick of it over the two years I was attempting to make it. When JW came back and reverted much of the work I had done on EoM and completely redid the devlings I lost my motivation to work on it (I didn't want to retest everything, again). I think that it still has potential but someone other than me will have to bring it out if it is there.

Wesnoth Tower Defense: This was a side project of mine but one which proved unexpectedly popular. I think that if I were to revisit this I would redesign it from the ground up and merely keep some of the coding but many people have enjoyed it and if someone wants to take over, finish and polish this up it certainly has the potential to be fun.

I've had a lot of fun participating in and making things for this community and I hope you've enjoyed my works.

I don't volunteer to take one of those (sorry), but I want to say thanks for your contributions, both in form of your add-ons and your invaluable replay analyses in the forum.

(I hope this does not start a thread full of thanks without any volunteering - if so, please some moderator split it off.)

I'd like to take over the development of "War of the Dragon".

It's a long time since I played it.
But I remember it to be fun and to be waiting for more scenarios.

I had thought I still had the War of the Dragon pbl and project with my WIP scenarios and maps for the rest of the campaign but looking for it, I cannot seem to find it. My appolgies. If you still want to work on it you may be able to get the released stuff off the 1.6 server if it is still up and I could give you instruction on how the remaining scenarios ought to look.

If anyone wishes to take Count Kromire off my hands, just contact me. I don't really have much time for it anymore.

I'm interested in taking over a campaign, I just don't have time. If very slow development is fine, I might be able to do something.

The development is already finished.

As maintainer all you would have to do is make sure that it is compatible/released with the latest versions of Wesnoth and maybe rebalance it if EoM gets any substancial changes.

Then I might be able to do this. First I need to get a new computer. The one with Wesnoth on it died.

I think I don't want to become maintainer, but I have started to translate Count Kromire to German.
Thank you very much, Velensk.
After far too long an absence, I have returned.
According to the quiz 100% Silver Mage (85% Archmage, 75% Shyde, 67% Flameheart and Ancient Wose,58% Assassin, Troll Warrior and Berserker). And my top score is exactly how I see myself.

Here are my plans for "War of the Dragon":

Skip Wesnoth 1.8 version.
Bring WotD to wesnoth-umc-dev.
- Import WotD for Wesnoth 1.6 into 1.9 branch
- First step: necessary changes for 1.6 -> 1.9

I'd be thankful for all information you can share about the unfinished scenarios.
Do you think I should work closely with the "Count Kromire" maintainer as WotD is a sequel?
Or even port CK to 1.9, too?
(But I don't want to maintain versions < 1.9.)
Have there been major changes to "Era of Myth" lately?
Please give me hints how JWs changes affected the existing scenarios and were rebalancing might be needed.

Yes, there is some loader that changes how the game accesses EoM for campaigns.

It's not on the add-ons server, but work on the port was begun and uploaded to UMC-Dev. I cannot say how far along it got, or whether it reached a state of being playable on 1.9/1.10, however.
Ports:
Prudence (Josh Roby) | By the Sword (monochromatic) | The Eight of Cembulad (Lintana~ & WYRMY)
Resources:
UMC Timeline (Dec) | List of Unported UMC (Dec) | wmllint++ (Feb)
