this is a top thread from the forums about a series of battles (much like a campaign) that reminded me a lot of the Battle for Wesnoth. the plot is great, the battles are amazing, and I think you should check it out. (link to main page is in my signature)

Haha, used to play games like this. Unfortunately, now with the internet, I don't have the patience to play any sorts of board games anymore. (Or at least other people don't)

nah, there are rules on the site, but there are also forum battles, where one person hosts and other people play
