similar turn based games
Hello,
as there are only few turn based games out there and I found BfW only due to coincidence, I want to hear what games of the same/similar type you also played and can recommend.
My list of games worth playing
- King´s Bounty
- Fantasy Wars and Elven Legacy
- Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn (Wii)
- Final Fantasy Tactics
- Age of Wonders II
Those belong at least to my favourites though there are more, but older one´s to be mentioned like Master of Magic....

Re: similar turn based games
What about all the rest of the FE series? They're all turn-based games, not just Radiant Dawn.GeneralGonzo wrote:- Fire Emblem Radiant Dawn (Wii)
There's also the Civilization games, which can be either RTS or TBS, depending on the game mode you use.
There was another one I wanted to mention but I forgot it as I was typing those...

BTW, you may be interested in this thread; it isn't specifically games like wesnoth, but it's a somewhat similar topic....
Re: similar turn based games
I've seen far too many people die trying to play Wesnoth like Fire Emblem to be able to mentally discard the differences.
Most of the games I've played that feel the most like Wesnoth are board games.

Dominons 2 and 3 from Illwinter are VERY good and complex games. I love them.
Re: similar turn based games
I'll grant that they are fine games but they aren't anything like Wesnoth.

Here's an awesome free turn-based strategy game that I'm surprised get very little attention. It's an oldie, but a masterpiece in my opinion. I've been playing it for years and it still hasn't lost its touch. Tons of strategy. Easy to learn, difficult to master. Check it out:

By the way, it says "online" but it's totally a single-player game. I believe you can hook up with people and play multiplayer games, but I've never tried it myself. The AI can be pretty tough. You can change its settings in the options menu, among other things. If you want to hear music, just make sure you set it to midi, not cd.

Haha, I love that game
Good taste, mate. I'll second this recommendation.
The campaign play in Vantage Master Online is heavily, heavily influenced by which hero you end up with.
I did play a bit of multiplayer back in the day. I found that most of the heroes aren't viable for multiplayer, which tends to be dominated by a couple specific units. However, the asymmetric map balance made it a great deal of fun to play against other people.
