I have 2 questions

1st one: Where is are the add-on files being put inside the wesnoth 1.6.1 folder? I can't find them.

2nd one: I'm seeing some people play using an era_extended_eom era. Is this basically extended era + era of myths, and what is it called in the add-on download area?

The addons are saved in: Battle for Wesnoth 1.6\userdata\data\campaigns, at least in my case.

As for the eras; currently only Era of Myths can be downloaded from the addon server as Extended Era was removed because of some problems with the cache if I recall correctly.

It might put them in My Documents/My Games/Wesnoth 1.6

I found them. Gambit was right about the location, thanks.

Well, there is BEEM and ageless era which both give similar races plus more.

It turns out Ageless era was what I was looking for, thanks anyway though.
