Calling Units

Post by deonjo »

I think, that this might be similar to a summoner who summons, but it is sort of different. I think it would be cool for a leader to be able to recall/recruit units, without having to be on the keep. This will allow heroes to level up faster, without having to constantly sit on the keep.

But to make the ability fair, there should be like a call number, sort of like those you get when you are waiting for your turn in a poultry line. So you can call a unit, but it doesn't arrive immediately. I arrives, in maybe 3 turns, instead of right away. Then, it is also possible to queue up units, for arrival. Maybe you can call it reinforcements.

I know there will probably be a problem.
- what happens if there is not enough space around the leader.
- I don't think it is possible to queue in WML
- How do you determine Call time.

But hey it's just an idea.

there would be some major WML code involved in that

Nahh, :hmm: i don't think it would be a good idea unless you wanted it in a user created campaign

You can do something similar. If you look at the scenario-test.cfg in the data directory there is a right click menu that allows you to summon a troll. This could be modified to allow you to recruit any unit. It would take some special filtering to make sure that the right click was only available near the leader.
