Dwarf Guardsman ability: steadfast

Post by Playerkiller »

I don't quite understand this ability. Does it mean that when guardsman is defending, then he only takes half damage? or always has a 50% defense when defending? Could someone please define it for me?
I love small maps. I hate huge maps.

steadfast doubles every resistance of the unit (max 50%), when the unit is defending.

Let's say a unit has 30% blade and 20% impact resist, then when attacking there is no change, when the unit is attacked, those resistances double:

blade -> 50% (not 60%, because 50% is the max)
impact -> 40%

you savvy?

His resistances against the weapon of the attacker are doubled when defending, up to a maximum of 50%.

So it's 20% blade resistance are doubled to 40% resistance if he is attacked by a sword. But if he'd be attacked by a weapon he is 30% resistant to his resistance will only increase to 50%.

Edit: Seems like Wintermute was beat me explaining this :)

And negative resistances do not double. (that would kind of suck.)

So in the case of the Dwarvish Guardsman :
Blade / pierce / impact / Holy (on 1.2.4) resistances : +20% (on attack) / +40% (on defense)
Fire / cold / arcane (on 1.3.2) resistances : +10% (on attack) / +20% (on defense)
