Thanks, stderr.txt

Post by Zendra »

Had been working on a campaign for around a week, when suddenly every time we started the game, during start-up the game failed saying that an original game unit has some malfunction in its animation frames. And as we couldnt find any fault at all in the unit file itself, we tried even picking it out of the unit directory to see if the game had gone delusional, but oh lookie there, another original units animations was messed up as well. So we even started re-downloading the game, while popping by the tech-support part of the forum... and after wondering whether there was something the game didnt tell us about or not, we checked out the log in stderr.txt, and waddayaknow, another edited file had slipped by even before the game started checking through the actual game units.

Lazy as we were, we had removed the "defense-animations" sound-file for an added unit, which appearantly did something alike having the rest of the game assume there wasnt supposed to be any sound in any other unit file in the entire game, or something as such, seeing how no other unit worked to load into the game. So thanks to the tech-page in general. Saved us before we even had to make a post about it. Damn annoying until we had internet access to bother thinking in anything but a straight line of trial-and-error. Good thing we didnt go to such extents as to actually edit the unedited unit files before checking exactly why there suddely was something wrong with something we never touched.

That said, we're back to creating again, and the frustration is slowly disappearing into the mists of time.
