Rephrasing of Tip #26

Post by irrevenant »

Tip #26 currently reads: "If you move a unit, but don't attack or discover any additional information, you can undo your move by pressing 'u'."

IMO, it would be clearer if it read "By pressing 'u', you can undo any moves made since a combat was resolved or new information revealed".

This makes it clearer that:
(a) the move is past-tense; and
(b) you can undo multiple moves; and
(c) are in any combat, not just that initiated by you.

Thoughts?

"Any unit that has been moved can have their move undone by pressing 'u', unless the unit has already attacked or has uncovered terrain hidden from view by Fog of War/Shroud."

in battle for wesnoth, lest you have attacked, 'u' can be pressed for the effect of, while it is your turn and your keyboard, being not overly dusty and full of food stains, functions, returning to the state before the move, which does not function when you have discovered new information, such as an invisible, for example a wose, being a rebel unit costing 20 gold, in forest because of its ambush ability, unit or area under shroud, making it a much more enjoyable game.

:? My version was actually slightly shorter than the original[1].

The more important question is: do you find that it explains the concept more clearly?

[1] Not that length is a significant concern. After all, we currently have a tip that says:
"There are six types of attacks: pierce, blade, impact, fire, cold, and holy. Different units have weaknesses against different types of attacks. Right-click on a unit, and then select 'Unit Description', and then click 'Resistance' to see how much resistance a unit has against different attack types."

How about: "By pressing 'u', you can undo any moves made after a combat was resolved or new information revealed".

Using "since" is confusing because it can mean "because". At the same time, I'm not sure that "after" really works either.

Two things:

1) When a unit is exploring he 'discovers' information not 'reveals' it.

2) Tip 26: Undo unit moves with the 'u' key. This is not possible if the unit has attacked or discovered map information.

actually you can undo everythingsince the last random event happened(from your subjective p.o.v.), e.g.: recruitation of units other than undead, woses etc.. , fights, scouting enemy troups or villages (which could be enemy or neuttral until you scout them)

but it would be a little bit hard and long to explain!
