I think that these could be very useful in certain situations; pensive, for example, would very often be a much more accurate emotional/expressional icon than:

Yeah, that nodding one is screwy, can't we have one with a normal mouth? I doubt it would even be that hard to edit it, if need be. The "annoyed" one is excellent, though.

It's an anime reference/meme. First time I saw the icon was on Gaia; since they seem to have a lot of custom ones, I figure they did that too.
