I've got a place I keep in my favorites, lists a lot of tools that are freeware, such as gmax which is similar to 3dmax (but free)... http://www.atomicmpc.com.au/forums.asp?s=2&c=11&t=1391

Just pay attention to (on freeware) any licenses they might have, as some may claim rights over your work if they so choose.

If any artists are available and interested, my game could really use some help in the art department right now. A couple of our guys are out for a while for personal reasons and our art department is starting to lag from being understaffed. I've talked about my game plenty here before, but its a F/OSS 2D RPG game (think like a SNES RPG). Here are some samples of our art style:

You can read more about our available positions (and how to apply) in our help wanted thread here:
http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums ... _id=340379

An artwork FAQ can be read here:
http://www.allacrost.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=190

And of course you can find a lot of other information about the project and the team at our website:

We're a well-established project (over a year in the works now) so you'll hopefully have more faith in our success than several of the other game projects that pop up and die after a short few weeks or months. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! :D

Even if I (try to) use blender, it still is too much work for one person.

I don't know, but i think one of the c series will very likely be used as most games are programmed in C, or C++ but Martenzo is the guy to ask.

I was away on a school trip for a couple of days, so sorry for the delay.
Now, one question, Is it going to be a futuristic or medieval RPG.
I have systems for both.
Futuristic: You have only one gun through the game. It is developed in a matter of ways (space for addons, amplifier, generator, divider etc.)
Medieval: Spell system works like this, there are four (Level 1) magic branches (Earth Air Water Fire), once you have learned one, you are shown the (Level 2) specializising options, (Special, Utility, Defense, Offense). Under special are the combinations of different bases (Fire+Water=Steam spells). Under utility are non-combat spells (water walk). After you learn one of these you get the (level 3) superspeciality spells (Light offense (low mana), Medium offense, heavy offense). From there on, you start learning individual spells, but you have to choose if you specialize or not. not specializing means 60% weaker spells but more spells, Specializing means 100% strenght of spell but less spells to choose from, also, you can always learn utility spells. However, you can always be an overall warrior.

P.S In case of futuristic, I'll have to think of a new name

I think it should be medieval, i think there is reason why most RPG games are in that age, you can uses ranged and meele weapons, in futuristic one you have most weapons ranged.
