I really don't think we need trolling like this.

There are plenty of reasons to use Windows. For instance, I use Windows because I like working from home and I can only connect to my company's VPN from Windows.

Windows and Linux

So true... I used to boot linux for work and boot to windows just for gaming, that help separate both. Now because of Wesnoth I don't boot Windows anymore and my job is suffering for it :)

Never though Windows could be that useful.

That being said, I would add Why? Oh why did you have to made the game also for Linux? :D

if you company uses cisco as the VPN server, cisco has a gnu/linux client to connect with. a company i used to intern at supported the gnu/linux client as well as the windows client.

as far as other VPN solutions, there are very good workarounds for many. however some distros require you to compile a new kernel, some do not.

In light of 0.9 being fairly buggy and there soon being a bug-fix release, and me being strapped for time, I think that I will hold off on making a windows binary until 0.9.1 is released...

Unfortunately my company doesn't. We use GNU/Linux for development and to run our servers on, but Windows is required to use Outlook, Windows Messenger, and to access the VPN. (And yes, I know there are GNU/Linux applications which can interface with Exchange, but seriously, this is all far too much effort...) Also we don't use Cisco for the VPN -- we use VPN software that I'm pretty sure is Windows only.

Also, another good reason to use Windows is it runs VC++, which imho makes me much more productive when developing Wesnoth, since it compiles so much faster than gcc.

Built it

My nephew "had" to have the 0.9.0 release for his Linux (the perfect answer to spyware) computer. But that meant that we couldn't play multiplayer with me on my Windows machine.

So I went through the pain of building 0.9.0 myself using the MSVC 7.1 compiler. Adding an installer package would be a snap, but it seems that I cannot distribute all of the dependent DLLs. According to the gettext readme.woe file:
---EXCERPT---
You cannot distribute 'msvcr70.dll' with the
binaries - this would be a violation of the GPL and of the Microsoft EULA.
You can distribute the binaries without including 'msvcr70.dll', but this
will cause problems for users that don't have this library on their system.
---END EXCERPT---

Is this a standard library that exists on users computers? I am not sure. So if someone can look into this I'd appreciate it.

On a side note, as this is my first post to this forum (I think), I'd like to thank the development team for creating a great game. My nephew (15) wants to grow up to be a game developer. This game has helped me teach him more about programming than any of the "stupid, boring" wireless telemetry applications I work on. So, thanks.

Oh quit your whining. I have to wait for many cool Windows games to come out on Mac. It is blasphemos when you quote scripture so.

The correct quote of Matthew 6:10: "They kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." I don't know how you can get that one mixed up, it's where we get the Lord's Prayer.
I speak what's on my mind.

Which is why nothing I say makes sense.

This may come as a surprise but.....

There are many many many translations of the Bible. Look at those two different versions again; you'll see the meaning is the same. Also, that was an exerpt of 6:10, not the whole thing, like you posted.

Let's fight about the Bible! It'll be fun!

Kidding of course. Let there be peace, MY BROTHER.

He wrote almost the same thing I did. The first verse stated means a total different thing then what I said. I know there are different bible versions, but I think that the King James Version is the most correct translation around. But that is besides the point, you shouldn't use scripture so carelessly.
