neo's looks bad ass if you ask me and I say go with that one even if it could be made a tad whispier. Jetryl's just doesn't fit in even though it looks pretty cool too.

Why should the shadow look bad ass? the Wraith is the bad ass unit...

Well it could be toned down a little, but I think he has the style pegged.

I think that the style is COMPLETELY WRONG for an insubstantial unit with Backstab.

Hey. I decided to take a break from schoolwork for a bit and I ran into this thread. I can't say I like the fire elemental-converted to ghost sprite, but the original is a little odd.

So heres an edited original. I changed the proportions a little so he's less wimpy, but not huge looking. Red eyes is just cause someone said something about likeing that. Any good?

Offtopic: I wish I had time to do big projects like the portraits or story pics, but school comes first. I still plan on finishing those though.

No comments on Jetryl's? THAT was the really good one, I want it in-game...

I must say I really liked Jetryl's Shadow as well. Maybe it needs a little more work so it's easier to distinguish it in the mountains.

Jetryl made a cool unit, but I don't think shadow when I see it. It reminds me too much of maybe the grim reaper without the syth and all. Too much pale face dark cloak kidna stuff and too similar to the wraith line. The only thing that really bothered me about the original sprite is that it looks kinda goofy, and not really menacing. So I just tweaked it a little. I didn't mean to not comment on Jetryls ghost entirely, I guess I kinda forgot about it by the time I got to the end of the thread.

Sorry Jetryl  .

IMHO your image still has the problem of one flat color, no shading, etc.

Jetryl's has the problem that it doesn't exactly make you think "shadow".

Tigrenzo/neoriceisgood's has the problem they look too corporeal, way too corporeal.

I hate to say it, but i think none of these images are ready for the game. A shadow, draw like Jetryl's but looking more 'shadowy', would be great *. Neoriceisgood's would make a good special monster or some new unit... just not a shadow.*

I will attempt a version similar to jetryl's but more like a shadow, but i have neither Neoriceisgood's or Jetryl's skill. :( (really, i'm a campaign maker who likes dabbling in art. :) ) SO don't expect much.

*: (i would say Jetryl's was, but apparently it doesn't make most people think shadow, or its too transparent, or blah blah blah,.. point is, most people don't like it.)

I normally don't repeat myself, but here is an exception. Jetryl's shadow would be the perfect wraith. It basically looks like a fuzzy-edge semi-realistic redo of the wraith. The glow-eyed grab attack gives me nightmares. Like something out of Poltergeist.

The conspicuous difference is the lack of a sword, and I don't know how he could add one without trashing the grab attack.

It sounds like I'm saying it should be the wraith, but really as long as it gets in, I don't care what it replaces.
Hope springs eternal.

I just redid the shadow to make a "wolf", so I might as well post it here.

Feel free to rip it apart

BTW, I really like the nightgaunt with the mask and all, as well as the matching shadow.

 darn, I'm so busy doing mermaids. I guess I should fix my shadow graphic this weekend. So far as I can tell, everyone liked what I did with the wraith graphics. I will try to emulate the hard edges of the wraith.
Jethril: quickly! distract them!
Jetryl: how?
Jethril: Just do anything!!
Jetryl: alright... fine. But, uh, could you do me a favor?
Jethril: What?
Jetryl: Get out of my house. Now.

It would be really cool if we could see Neo's Shadow at 50% Transparency in game. *wink* *wink*

Put all of the possible shadows next to each other on the same screen with other units, if you really want to see which one looks best.

I would do this myself, but I don't know how to alpha shade stuff, or replace graphics.
