As I have stated several times, I like the old shadow. I think it looks cool and have gotten rather attached to it. Especially since Shade uses it as his avatar. But if it has to be changed, I'd rather the replacement look a good as possible.

no offense, but i was talking about the artists (who are the main people who have input on this).

IMHO jetryl's shadow have 3 bad things:

1) blurring (look at the neo's shadow/nightaunt, no need to blur to make a different unit)
2) skeleton-like face
3) almost imposible to find in mountains at daylight (don't tried other terrains)

But it looks scarier in the end.

You mean the cloaked thing? It's nice but unwesnothish; it needs a form of outline to work.

no.... IMHO that is one of the problems with your ghost - you try to outline it, and that makes it look too corporeal.
Is the current wraith outlined? not really. Is it wesnothish? yes. Does it look cool? definitely.

Actualy the current wraith -has- an outline; it just doesn't need to cover 100% of the sprite (like the baneblade)

thus "not really".

and outlines don't have to be black. ;)

They don't have to be; so why are you saying the wraith has no outline?

i'm saying it doesn't have as much of an outline as your non-shadow does.

Jetryl should redo his shadow, with pixel art, no blurring, no skeleton head, and a little outline to not confuse with terrain. Just wesnoth style.

um... it IS pixel art. Being alpha-shaded doesn't mean its not pixel-art.

But i agree with the outline, as long as it leaves the feel of the unit intact

Let Jetryl redo his shadow, and then make a poll or send both to Unit thread started by Dave. Let developers choose what to use.

wraith is not a shadow, they are different paths.

Jetryl = art developer.

so he technically can make the choice himself... of course, he can get overruled.
