What does the storm trident do?

Post by irrevenant »

I appear to have completely missed the opportunity to get the storm trident in the Bay of Pearls scenaria in HttT.

What does it do? Is it worth my while doing the level over just to get it?

Thanks.

It's a good weapon for mermems. You can finish the game without.

It throws magical bolts at your enemies. They got a 70% probability so thats a huge advantage in fighting (especially sea fighting). It can kill a naga in one turn. If you play in easy, you don't need it that much. But if you play on hard level, it helps you a lot to win the sea battle and finish the sea orc.
I don't know, if you can use it afterwards though. I missed it too when I played the campaign in easy and i have not gotten much further in hard so i can't tell you about that.

Yeah, you can use it later. It comes in handy in later scenarios such as elensefar.

<sigh> Sounds like I'm going back. Thanks.

(I'm playing on "Normal", BTW).

The trident isn't useful enough to replay the map for.
There are very few scenarios where merman are really
useful. The only one I remember is the penisula with
undead and you can avoid that (though I never went
the other route, so they may be useful there).
I used a few in a couple of scenarios that I didn't really need
to. But that was because I was trying to get some promoted.
But that didn't turn out to be important in the end.

You can pick up another trident in a latter scenario. I like them enough that I'd replay to get both. However from the sound of it most people aren't too fussed about having a loyal high HP magic user or two.

Well at least not ones that are really slow on land.
If there were some more water heavy scenarios, things would be different.

Yeah I think the storm trident is a cool item to have...but unfortunately there aren't more water scenarios to make use of it on. Kinda unfortunately really.

It's cool, but the only battle after that I've used the mermen in is the Swamp of Dread...

*stilll hasn't beaten the main campaign*

I cannot image how to finish "The Ford of Abez" without strom trident.

Hmm. How about we make a river across Gryphon Mountain and make the enemies stronger?

It is true that this scenario is a bit overpowered for the Konrad-side.

@Author Keelta MacRonan: you can find one in the ford of Abez (IIRC) scenario
