Ancient Egypt

Good morning!

With all this talk about classical factions, I thought I'd propose one based on ancient Egypt. I have a tentative line made :

spearman, L0 --> standard, L1
                    --> javelineer, L1
                    --> pikeman, L1

chariot, L1 --> chariot archer, L2 --> royal charioteer, L3
                --> chariot lancer, L2

bowman, L1 --> skirmisher, L2
                  --> archer, L2
The spearman would have a strong melee and a weak range (say, 4-3 and 4-1), would have many hp for a L0 (say, 20) but be cheap because he maxes out at level 1. The standard has no range, weak melee (say 5-3), gets leadership but can only lead spearmen. The javelineer might have an equal melee and range (say 4-3 for both) and the pikeman has no range but strong melee (say 7-3) and first strike. The pikeman has the most hp and javelineer the least. All attacks would be piercing except the standard which would have a sword.

The chariot line would have a weak 'trample' impact melee damage and a strong piercing bow, with the lancer being faster and getting a powerful charge but no bow. The royal charioteer could get leadership.

The bowman line would have a weak bladed knife for melee and a relatively strong bow. The archer would be stronger than the skirmisher, but the skirmisher would have, well, skirmish...

The chariot would be pretty expensive (~20 gold), but the bowman would be around 12 gold and the spearman around 7 gold. The egyptian army often relied on hordea of weak and ill-armed infantry quickly levied, and the lines would reflect that. They would have normal smallfoot movement, maybe better in sand, and the chariots would probably be like cavalryman. They have the advantage that, unlike the greeks or romans, they entail no extra abilities. We could also include magic-using units, but this is my proposal for now.

This isn't original, but having an undead jackal warrior with spears would be cool.

Giving foot soldiers sickles, while also not original, would also be cool.

Then you have the slaves. Now that the drake slaves are specialty units, you have some room there in the faction. Then you have a slave master with leadership, since he whips the slaves to fight better.

You have staff-wielding priests, and it would be nice to have a staff fighter in there as well. Maybe magic use could be a branch for those guys.

But yes, show me your art.

I'm thinking a simple lvl1 priest that branches into iconic priests of their gods (the jackal and the crocodile seem like good options, and eagle too).

I endorse the egiptian sickle-sword as foot soldier weaponry.

This is my opinion on the matter... now which was the good of healing?.

Egyptian god of healing? I do not recall.

However, Horus (falcon-god) and Set (crocodile-god, I think) were the gods of order and chaos, respectively, so how about:

This makes the chariot vulnerable to cavalry, who usually move 1 faster, and can charge the chariot relatively safely. The chariot will be good against slow units with light armour and low hp. (saurians in the side of a forest for example)

the chariot -> faster chariot -> charioteer (can now charge most cavalry)
or chariot -> chariot archer (8-3 ranged) -> Chariot Marksman. (shoots 9-4 arrows with marksman)

Then we need a Hebrews faction. In typical fashion, these will get worse as they advance.

Here is the worker line.

L1 - Worker
Bricks - melee - 6-2

L2 - Beaten Worker
Bricks (no straw) - melee - 4-2

L3 - Old Beaten Worker
Fists - melee - 2-2
Lamentation - ranged - 10-1

Here is the "leadership" line

L1 - Egyptian Moses
staff - melee - 6-3

L2 - Exiled Moses
staff - melee - 8-4

L3 - White-haired Moses
staff (snake) - melee/poison - 9-4
10 Plagues - ranged - 10-10

There would also be a L4 Angel of the Lord unit. Maybe L5 since the AotL would be at least as strong as Delfador.

camel warriors too.

Anubis wasn't undead, and I don't think his servants would have been. Coolest god ever thought up, just because he has a jackals head.
I think that if there are image smade for this, it could be interesting.

its a word for someone who is jewish and of jewish descent.

The egyptians?? I didn't think that they used camels. Having good relation with the greeks, they might have Greek hoplites though.

In other news, it appears we have a pillager infestation.

But back to the Egyptians. Although a chariot is bound to be fast, it would have to face some heavy penalties on any non-flat terrain.

I don't see why not. I'm just throwing out ideas!

Also, shouldn't there be a charioteer in the chariot?

In fact, the average war chariot would have been manned by at least two men, a driver and a lancer or archer
