Wesnoth graphics

Post by Dark Helmet »

A little while ago, while looking at one of those sprite resource sites on the web, I came across an rather interesting sprite set from the game Ogre battle: March of the Black Queen. Here are a few of them

They look startlingly familar. I'm thinking that whoever did the graphics (or at least most of the graphics) for Wesnoth is a proffesional sprite maker for the industry. That makes the most sense. Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Note: I haven't completly figured out the attachment thingy yet. If theres no image, please tell me. And also how to put one in.

I see what you mean, although I think copying this style was intentional. As for specific costumes (like the orcish warlord), you would have to ask the man himself.

Nope, the graphics were done first by fmunoz and they have slowly evolved into the curent Wesnoth syle sprites as more artists have contributed work and as their skills have improved. I don't think any of the artists are profesional sprite makers and I'm fairly sure none of them have worked for the videogame industry.

this is kind of off topic but I love ogre battle.
Oh no look out its a ray gun.
You should move to avoid the rays
the rays are coming out of the gun
if you are hit by the rays
you will be shot by the rays
the rays are fast so you should be fast to
can you win against the fast rays from the gun?

Fmunoz based a lot of the sprites on Ogre Battle. He's said so himself. Because of copyright issues, the sprites that were more of 'copies', and less just 'inspired by', he's tried to remove.
