A couple more missing words

Post by skovbaer »

I found two additional untranslated sentences...
When choosing Multiplayer, the scenario names
are still in English:
"The Isle of Anduin"
"The Three Rivers"

At the top of the right side status bar, above the map, there is the text 'Tactical Map', which is part of the right side image. I find it difficult to see how we're going to internationalize that, without shipping different versions of the image for each locale, but that would be incredibly inconvenient. I suggest we simply remove the text, since it should be obvious that that's the tactical map. fmunoz, would you be able to remove the text and send me a new version of the image?

That leaves the title screen, which I have no idea how we're going to internationalize. We could print the text on at run time, onto a background image, but that would no-doubt look worse, and if the title is long in some locales, it'd give us problems. Any thoughts?

French translation

Post by Guillaume »

Hi,

About this message: msg6_24="Uggh will kill the slims!" ?
I would like to now if "Uggh" is only an interjection or the name of a character?

(this vocabulary is not hte one that I learnt and not the one that I use at work  )

Yeah let's just say that "Uggh" is "Ogre talk" :-)

Well, I think there's really only one solution: One image per language... Can't really see, how else you would overcome that problem...

IIRC Uggh is the name of the Ogre.
That section of messages was only to give a notice to the player about the new units summoned to defend the princess.
If that messages seems extrange or couldn't be undertanded easily blame me... The originals were worse before Dave rewrote them :-)

Post by skovbaer »

Ewww... Had a major system crash resulting in me low-level-formatting my hd... Sometimes IBM just sucks badly... I would have had the updated Danish translation ready some days ago, but anyway here it is:

Um, how does this wiki-thing actually work?

Post by skovbaer »

Can I somehow put my new translation into the wiki-translations page when I've updated it? Or does that require some kind of special privileges?

@Jaramir: When you do your translations, I suggest basing them off the file sample_translation.cfg found in the distribution. That contains all the strings you can translate in English. Just go through and convert them. Any strings you haven't translated yet, just leave the English versions there.

@skovbaer: Anyone can edit Wiki, so yes you can just edit them in.

In version 0.4.7 I am adding support for each translation to define hotkeys applicable to the translation.

Sounds cool... I've just updated the Danish translation... That wiki-thing is a clever idea, that's for sure...

skovbaer,

I'm not sure why, but the Danish translation now has no line breaks in Wiki.

Once it's fixed I'll slate it for inclusion in the next release.
