I know this could be posted in a different forum, but as there is at least someone here who is impressed by the xdelta-file there must therefore be at least one person who knows how to apply it ...
I'd be very greatful for any help on the xdelta, as I have a dial-up connection an small file-size saves money!!!

Thank you all so much!

After downloading the .xdelta file from BfW, you need to download the Xdelta unpackager. A link to the download page for Windows is here: http://evanjones.ca/software/xdelta-win32.html

I believe that download is compressed, so, after unzipping it, put the uncompressed files in the same folder with the newest .xdelta patch, and the previous full BfW install .exe. Once these three files are all together (I believe Xdelta has some subsidiary library files in the download, don't forget to put those files in as well), open a command prompt. Navigate to the folder where the files are and type in "xdelta use". This will give you a list of the things Xdelta can do. The part most pertinent to your situation is "xdelta patch". Using that beginning, you then type in the name of the .xdelta file you downloaded, and then the name of the previous install version of BfW. If you've typed in everything correctly, press enter, wait for a little bit, and a new install .exe should appear. Use that to install Wesnoth.

If you are using a Mac, it may be completely different. I can't help you there.

I was under the impression that 0.9.4 had been uploaded to the debian repository-thingy. Is this not true? AFAICT, 0.9.3 is the only version available. Or is 0.9.4 only in Sid?

I really have no idea what you are talking about, but I'm playing BfW 0.9.4 right now, for Windows. 0.9.4 is here for some people, at least.

This may be a bug. Some max-level units (one I remember was Elvish Sharpshooter) regenerate after reaching 100xp. And some don't (one I remember was Konrad).

That's not what I'm talking about... if you noticed, I mentioned Debian in my post. I was talking specifically about the wesnoth debian package; it appears to still be 0.9.3. I could download the new version from the website, but the debian package is supposed to be updated, and I think someone said earlier in the thread that it had been. :)

@turin
AFAIK the package has not been updated for Debian yet. There were some issues with packages not working together because of being compiled with different versions of the GCC. These probs are now solved and so Isaac will build the debian packages as soon as he has the time for doing so.

Mandrake has its own rpm's:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/ ... 6.rpm.html
and Debain users can use unstable repositories.
